Marjorie ‘Margie’ Johnson

Marjorie Elaine “Margie” Johnson, 64, Williston, formerly of Lignite, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at her residence.

Margie was born on Nov. 29, 1943, in Powers Lake, the daughter of Ervin T. and Olive M. (Brenden) Johnson. She was reared and educated in Powers Lake and Cottonwood before moving with her parents to Lignite in 1957. She graduated from Lignite High School in 1961. She started waitressing for her mom in 1968 at Johnson’s Cafe in Lignite.

On June 19, 1964, she married Douglas B. Johnson in Lignite and they raised three children: Troy, Tracy and Travis. The couple later divorced. She continued working at Johnson’s Cafe until it closed in November 2001. She then started working at the 109 Steakhouse, Lignite, in December 2001.

She moved to Williston in 2004 and started working at Champs Place, where she gained many new friends. She later went on to work at City Laundry in Williston until her time of death.

Margie enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time at her daughter’s house in Canada, where she loved spending time with the family dog, “Digger.” In Canada, she gained many more friends and got to know her daughter’s neighbors as well. Margie thought the world of her kids and always tried to spend as much time as possible with them.

Margie also enjoyed hanging out with her dear friend, Marsha Larson, who meant a lot to her in the past few years.

Margie was baptized at Cottonwood Church and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lignite.

Those who shared in her life: Children, Troy (Dorothy) Johnson and their son, Oakley, Williston, Tracy (Walter) Neumann, Frobisher, Sask., Canada; Travis (Rachel) Johnson and their children, Trystan, Jeremy, Rhys and Kyrian, Williston; mother, Olive Johnson, Stanley; brother, Mark Johnson, Bismarck, and his children, Chasity, Jessie, Cassidy and Chelsey; sister, Marlys (Bruce) Thompson and their children, Shona (Clyde) McIntyre and their children, Brittany Konop and Sean McIntyre; Stacey Burry and her son, Kristafer Kostad; and Shane (Brenda) Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin.

Funeral: Monday, June 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Lignite.

Burial: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Lignite.

Visitation: Monday from noon to service time at the church.
