Alice Christiansen

Alice Christiansen, 83, Kenmare, formerly of Bowbells, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, in the Kenmare Community Hospital.


Alice Marie Christiansen was born Oct. 19, 1924, a daughter of John and Anna (Hauger) Christiansen, on the family farm located in Burke County, rural Bowbells. She attended a rural school and graduated from Bowbells High School.


She worked hard all her life at various jobs. She was a bookkeeper at Pommier’s Electrical Shop in Bowbells and at the Farmers Union Creamery in Kenmare for several years. She was also a cook at Lakeshore Supper Club for several years and had cleaning jobs at the school, post office and clinic in Kenmare. She loved her time on the farm raising her chickens.


She did not have any children of her own, but she loved all children around her. She had many baby-sitting jobs throughout the years.


Alice enjoyed visiting with people, talking on the telephone, and especially enjoyed writing letters. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowbells.


Surviving family includes: sister, Evangeline Meyer, Anoka, Minn.; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Joanne Christiansen, Bowbells; nieces, Vicki Dougherty, Darcy Christiansen and Debra Meyer; and nephews, Randy Christiansen and Dan Meyer; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. 


Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Christiansen; and a brother, Thomas Christiansen.


Funeral: Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowbells.


Vigil prayer service: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowbells.


Interment: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bowbells.


Visitation: Friday, June 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
