Richard, “Dick” Larson was born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Minot, to Henry Richard and Myrtle (Goldberg) Larson. He attended schools in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1946. He attended Minot State College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
In 1948, he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in February 1953.
On Dec. 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Constance Westphal, and born into this marriage were six children: Richard Jr., Terry, Sandra, Sheryl, Tamara, and Wendy.
Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to hunt, fish, play bingo, watch Nodak Racing, and spending time at Strawberry Lake with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club, Elks Club, and Eagles Club. He was a past president of the Nodak Racing Club and ND State Racing Association. Dick also participated in the Strawberry Lake Association.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard (Ann) Larson Jr., and their children, Becky, Kristen, and Richard III, all of Auburn, Wash.; Terry Larson, of Kent Wash.; daughters, Sandra (Terry) Carns, of Watford City, and their children, John (Angie), of Tampa, Fla., Justin (Becky), of Watford City, Jennifer, of Dickinson, Alyssa (Kevin), of Williston, Ricky (Heidi), of Watford City, and Michael, of Bismarck; Sheryl Jordan, Calimesa, Calif., and her children, Douglas II (Crissy), Morino Valley, Calif., and Donald (Cosmina), Beaumont, Calif.; Tamara Riba, and her children, Natasha (Eric), and Krystle, all of Minot; Wendy Arndt, and her children, Sara (Mike), and Tim, all of Fargo. Richard was also blessed with 14 great-grandkids, Colin, Hailey, Logan, Brooklyn, Taylor, Afton, Keegan, Hayden, Rhyleigh, Brody, Colton, Madison, Aubrey, and Tahia. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife, Connie; parents, H. Richard and Myrtle Larson; brother, James A. Larson; mother- and father-in-law, Roy and Eva Westphal.
Visitation: Today from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Funeral service: Monday, June 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
