Muriel Ann Harrison

March 29, 1927-June 4, 2008

On June 4, 2008, Muriel Ann Harrison went to be with her Lord and Savior. Muriel, age 81, lived in Mesa, AZ, and was formerly of the Bottineau-Willow City, ND, area.


Muriel Ann was born to Leo F. and Claudia Bergeron on March 29, 1927. Her mother was unable to get to the hospital so Muriel was born in her aunt’s farm home near Bottineau. Muriel attended country schools and later Notre Dame Catholic High School in Willow City and also two years at Oakes, ND. Muriel attended St. Benedict’s at St. Cloud, MN. She went on to teach school at Omemee, ND, where she met Marvin and on August 11, 1947, they were married. They made their home in the Omemee community. They were the last couple to be married in the rural Tarsus Catholic Church. They would have been married 61 years in August. To this union was born Cynthia Ann, Les Paul, Bonnie Rae and Claudia Mae. Marvin’s adopted brother, Robert Carl, was also a member of the family.


When Marvin retired from the United States Postal Service and farming, they retired to Leisure World in Mesa.


Muriel was a teacher, a homemaker, a loving wife, and grandmother. She had many interests – homemakers, 4-H, golf, dancing, Red Hat Society, and duplicate bridge. She was an excellent seamstress and accomplished knitter. She also was a member of Holy Cross Altar Society and most of all a loving Mother and Wife.


Muriel leaves: Her husband Marvin; children, Cynthia (Mumduh) Sifri, Quincy, IL; Les (Marilyn Skarphol) Harrison, Chippewa Falls, WI; Bonnie (David) Clark, Bottineau; Claudia (Brad) Trebas, Bottineau; a sister, Lyla Mae Rutledge of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elaine Grossman; and a son, Robert Carl Harrison.


Memorials: The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley, Mesa.


Memorial service: Will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m., at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Bottineau. (Mariposa Gardens Funeral Home, Mesa)
