George J. Haman

George J. Haman, 75, Granville, formerly of Minot, died Friday, June 6, 2008, in a Minot hospital.


George was born May 19, 1933, to Jacob and Katherine (Geisinger) Haman in Towner. He was raised and educated in Towner and Minot and received his GED. He served over 30 years in the armed forces between the Air Force, Army, National Guard and the Army Reserves. He retired in 1993 as sergeant first class.


George was united in marriage to Cecilia Martin on July 8, 1965, in Nuremberg, Germany. They made their home in Granville. While he lived in Minot he was employed by the Empire Theater, Seney TV Repair, Eagles Aerie, Moose Lodge, and for 20 years at Home of Economy. He was currently operating his own store in Minot, called CC & G Variety.


George was a member of the Granville American Legion and Granville Senior Citizens. He was a former member of both the Eagles and Moose Lodge and was a past governor of the Moose. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading Western books.


Surviving family includes: Wife, Cecilia; children, Brian (Ramona) Haman, Burlington, Michelle (Dean) Banet, Devils Lake, Cynthia (James) Howard, Sartell, Minn., Catherine (Eddie) Haman, Granville, Theresa Langerman, Los Angeles,; sister, Barbara Rhines, Tonopah, Nev.; brothers, Benny Haman, Williston, Joseph Haman, Tonopah; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


George was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dominic and Johnny Haman.


Funeral service: Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 10 a.m. at River of Life Assembly of God, 400 22nd Ave. NW, Minot.


Interment with military honors: Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.


Visitation: Today from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.


Memorials: In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred.
