Dick Harms, age 65, of Bottineau, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at a Bottineau hospital.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Richard A. Harms, a son of Adolph and Dorothy (Gagum) Harms, was born on July 21, 1942, at Kenmare. He was raised in Bowbells and later graduated from Bowbells High School. He attended the North Dakota State School of Forestry before attending Mayville State University where he graduated with a degree in Social Science in Physical Education. He moved to Sheyenne, ND, where he taught and coached at the high school. On July 29, 1969, he married Marlene Dunderland at Bottineau. They then moved to Glendive, MT, where Dick continued teaching and coaching. They moved back to Bottineau in 1980 and Dick owned and operated Harms Sales and Service.
Marlene passed away on July 25, 2001. On September 19, 2007, he married Judy Bergan and they have resided near Bottineau since.
Dick loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Bottineau; 2 daughters, Cara Harms and Jenny (Mark) Patterson all of Bottineau; stepchildren, Joseph Johnson of Apple Valley, MN, Jesse Johnson of Farmington, MN, Jodi Johnson of Hudson, WI and Kenneth Bergan of Minot; sister, Mary Swafford of Minot; nephew, Robert Wettlaufer of Bottineau; and one goddaughter, Kayla Coleman of Williston.
