Ceremony planned at N.D. Veterans Cemetery

POSTED: May 26, 2008

MANDAN – The 2008 Memorial Day ceremony at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery to honor all N.D. deceased service men and women will be today beginning at noon.

Vice Adm. Jeffery Fowler, a native of Bismarck who is superintendent of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., will be keynote speaker. Gov. John Hoeven, Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., and Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, adjutant general for the N.D. National Guard, will also participate in the program.

Those planning to attend should arrive early because a large crowd is expected. The program will begin promptly at noon with a helicopter flyover. Seating is limited and people should bring lawn chairs.

The event is free and open to the public. The cemetery is located south of Mandan on N.D. Highway 1806.
