Dianna Marie Owens
July 28, 1939-May 14, 2008Dianna Marie Owens, age 68, of Minot, passed away on May 14, 2008, at a Minot hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. There will be a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the service.
Dianna Marie Owens, a daughter of Walter and Rose (Blix) Sheid, was born on July 28, 1939, at St. Paul, MN. She moved with her family to Antler, ND, in 1950 and she graduated from Antler High School in 1958. She moved to St. Paul for a time before returning to Minot in 1965.
On August 20, 1965, she married Edward G. Owens at Minot. Through the next 25 years they lived at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Karamusel AFB, Turkey; and Iraklion AFB, Greece. In 1974 they returned to Elmendorf AFB in Alaska where Dianna began working for the U.S. Army Alaska District Corps of Engineers as a typist and worked her way up to Senior Cartographic Technician. They later moved to Sacramento, CA, in 1990 and a year later they moved to Tucson, AZ. In 1995 they moved back to Alaska. Edward passed away on October 30, 1996. Dianna moved to Minot in 2004, where she had resided since.
She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Minot. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Palmer, AK, and the Minot VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed woodcarving, landscaping, fishing, camping, canoeing, crocheting, computer games, golfing and Hallmark movies.
Those who shared in her life were: Her daughters, Kimberly A. Barber (James) of Anchorage, AK, and Brenda R. D’Anza (Mel) of Tucson, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Evan Harrington of Alaska, Jonathan Kleinleder of California and Crystal Woodward of Alaska; 3 sisters, Marlane Gallagher of St. Paul, MN, Sarita Huber of Westhope, and Joanne Tennyson of Minot; nieces and nephews, Kelly Anderson, David Gallagher, JoAnn Gallagher, Susan Gallagher, Alisa Hallos, Mike Huber, Sonya Huber, Cherie Korgel, Connie Michaud, Shelly Muehlenbeck, Lynette Pederson, Sabrina Rogers, Anita Tennyson; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
