Shirley Marie Omvig, 65, Minot, formerly of Bisbee, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Shirley was born Jan. 24, 1943, the daughter of Elmer and Sylvia (Christopherson) Church. She was raised and educated in Bisbee, and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1960. She was active in band and was also a majorette in cheerleading.

Shirley was united in marriage to Larry Omvig on March 8, 1960, in Bisbee. They moved to Lansford, where they raised their family. They moved to Minot in 1984. Shirley was a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, fishing and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford.

Surviving family includes: husband, Larry, Minot; children, Kevin Omvig, Minot, Trish Omvig and (Sharlet), Cannon Falls, Minn., Deb (Jeff) Johnston, Nerstrand, Minn., Laurel (Tim) Blackowiak, Dundas, Minn.; grandchildren, Adam and Bobbi Omvig, both Minot, Andy, Alex and Dana Johnston, all Nerstrand, Travis and Jenna Fredrick, both Dundas, Saterra, Santana, Devin Omvig, all Bliss, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Micheal and DaySun Skar, both Minot; brothers, Gary (Myrna) Church, Aurora, Colo., Vernon (Julie) Church, Devils Lake; sisters, Darlene (Ken) Yantes, Brocket, Charolotte (Elliot) Weimer, Moffit; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terrial Omvig; and brother, Larry Allan Church.

Funeral: Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Mylo Lutheran Cemetery, Mylo.

Visitation: Today from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
