Norris Ystaas

SHEYENNE – Norris G. Ystaas, 87, New Rockford, formerly of Sheyenne and Warwick, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, in a New Rockford nursing home.

He was born Feb. 9, 1921, to Ole and Syneva Ystaas in Vienna, S.D. He was drafted into the Army Sept. 28, 1942, and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He was discharged Oct. 12, 1945. He married Lorine Bergrud Oct. 16, 1947.

Survivors: daughters, Kathleen Albrecht, Sheyenne, Judy Forde, Lakota; sons, Wayne, Velva, Randy, Devils Lake, Mark, Warwick; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Hallsten and Millie Portz, both Sheyenne, Donna Nienabor, Anoka, Minn.

Funeral: Monday, 11 a.m., First Lutheran Church, Sheyenne.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne.

Prayer service: Sunday, 7 p.m., Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Visitation: Sunday, noon to 7 p.m., in the funeral home.
