The waste has become staggering

July 28, 2014

Estimates by federal agencies that they in effect threw away nearly $100 billion last year should infuriate taxpayers. It is our hard-earned money, after all....

All TeaPub complaints about taxes will be met with this disgraceful statistic:

Federal money (WELFARE) makes up 41.9% of North Dakota’s total state spending.

Without federal government hand-outs, this state would literally cease to exist.

Complain about that, TAKERS.

"It is our hard-earned money, after all . . ."

Actually, it's not "our" money -- since nearly half of ND's budget is federal welfare hand-outs.

Credit where it's due...

One little correction, day. That sarcastic liberal attitude is in reality a left wing liberal while imposing the left wing sarcastic attitude.

That's who I am...signed centerleft aka Duracell.

Some one once described jacky's comments as garbled baby goo-goo talk.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the proverbial hammer hitting the nail on the head.

One little correction, day. That sarcastic liberal attitude is in reality a right wing conservative pretending to be a liberal while imposing the right wing sarcastic attitude.

Nothing in this editorial was pointed at the right or left. Too bad that's what everyone wants to focus on. And I have no idea why any of you even waste your time on Jack. He/she doesn't do anything except regurgitate what the last person said, with a sarcastic liberal tone. It's pretty obvious Jack can't figure out an intelligent way to make his/her point. Facts be damned.

faux-center.....I feel we justa need to subsidize ....er...aah...invest more heavily in government....I feel that it would be absolutely more efficient....and we could even pay for it with the savings by stopping the waste and fraud in the Medi's...hey now...that justa doesn't make sense...but at least I am trying to move us forword...

I feel Jack that we need to sub-contract out every job in the civil service and Military as well. There is absolutely nothing an individual employed by the big government can't do better employed by big business. And to really motivate the new big business/former government employee we need to eliminate all civil service pensions and mandate 401k type pensioning.

And why not privatize Congress as well, put the job up to the highest bidder. Let's take the capitalism/democracy link right to the top. Umm, never mind, it's been done.

Worry about government waste and point to agencies that waste a hundred billion a year. There is a ton of waste out there so let us focus on the biggest ones first...Hmm. How about subsidies to the major corporations: It is estimated that the major corporations receive direct subsidies in excess of 100 Billion a year..... Or let us look at the tax breaks for major corporations at around 200 Billion a year......But, lets just look at one handout to "hedge fund managers"- Their personal tax break costs the US about 68 Billion dollars a year.... I can go on and on. The rich get richer and blame the rest.

We justa could not move forword without big government....I justa feel that we would get more bang for the buck if we had federal workers doing all this instead of corporations and contractors....and we coulda reduce unemployment....I think...

"Sometimes people who don't qualify for them get tax credits. Unemployment benefits can go to cheaters who have jobs. The food stamp program is rife with fraud"...MDN

and

"And, of course, let us not forget government contractors who rip off taxpayers through methods such as underestimating the true cost of programs, selling the government goods and services it doesn't need, providing lousy service and in a hundred other shady ways."...MDN

Which list above is thought by the right-wingers to be the main problem? I suggest paragraph one. And which one represents the greatest amount of waste? Here I suggest it is paragraph two.

If you got this far Jack, I feel you should click 'disagree' now.

"Estimates by federal agencies that they in effect threw away nearly $100 billion last year should infuriate taxpayers."

Yeah, but it was OK when Bush and Cheney wasted hundreds of billions of our money in Iraq.
