Thanks to the caring people whom did their part in a clean-up, but all I read is bickering back and forth of the same people in the comments. There is trash everywhere, flood trash, construction trash, winter trash, and not just the South East part of town. Where are the inmates, jails are full this would be free labor or is this cruelty to animals. Sounds like this whole town needs an enema or would that be considered another flood?

Sicko, I doubt you help much, let alone a planned event. No, I do not live under a rock and I am not an idiot. However, I grew up here and Minot has NEVER been a clean city. Is it dirtier than five years ago? Absolutely but it has never been clean.

Apologize sir...in my haste to get to church I misrepresented. Tallest fence in the E/SE corner, all along the Southern border of the cell. Portable Wind fence put in place during high wind events on the prevailing corner. The operation does what it can to contain what leaves it's site on a daily basis. The plastic bags in the field are the end result? If the community would address the use of them there wouldn't be any?? They have been banned in many community's.

Tallest fence should be on the east side, better chance of catching the garbage the NW wind picks up. You must think the fence has magical power to pull the garbage back west aganst the wind.

You have no idea how many hours I've spent in those fields and tree rows over the years....and yes the tallest fence at the Landfill is in the NW corner.....hmm

Ned.. Like I said you haven't paid much attention to our NW winds we have almost every day in ND. Look east of the landfill you will see what every garbage dump looks like in the spring in ND

This is a wonderful project for any City in the spring and my small part was taking beverages to those doing this hard work.My BIG Question remains...

" WHY HAS FLOOD CONTROL FOR MINOT GONE TOTALLY SILENT 3 YEARS AFTER A GIGANTIC FLOOD ??? "

EarlyBird...no need to be condescending asshat. While some material does make it's way out of the landfill on windy days it's hard to buy into your theory that all the material is coming from there. With the use of a 8'primary fence, a 30' secondary fence and at least 4 significant tree rows between the site and 16th St SW, the bags and litter would have to be airborne for nearly 2 miles?? Again...many communities have banned these from use simply because of this very issue.

Wow, 73, worry about yourself! I wasn't out there, right, but That doesn't mean I don't help out the community just by not attending a planned event you idiot. This town was much cleaner five years ago are you hiding under a rock?!

Ned. I disagree very strongly about the landfill. Have you ever looked at the land between the landfill and the backside of the west side mini mall. The area is just lousy with the little white plastic bags. I suppose you haven't put much time into noticing which way the wind blows allot.

Guessing sickworld was not one of the volunteers and also complains when the sand trucks are not out once the first flake flies. MHW, big oil? This town was dirty long before this boom. Thanks to all of those that helped!

Maybe the city leaders should start by setting a good example and getting this city cleaned up! River banks are still flooded with trash, piles of sand and trash surround each street. Why are the sweepers just coming out now?! Glad I live in the first area to get swept so my kids no longer play in the city donated sand box I did not ask for on the side of the street. Annoying. This town has turned into a nasty looking place. Makes me very sad!!

While on my walks I have learned that the #1 trash is plastic, #2 is bud light beer cans. Can we ban them, too? :-)

If you look around a majority of the litter is little white plastic bags. A lot of community's have banned the use of them just because of this very exact issue. Earlybird.. yes there is some material that comes out of the landfill but you might be sur***** at how little. I see more material in the ditches East of town than I do walking the fields South of the landfill.

I want to thank each volunteer. There were hundreds out walking the streets, ravines, river areas, and even downtown. Earlybird, you can sign up today from 9-1 and make sure the landfill debris is cleaned up!

Good deal, did they get all the trash that blows out of the landfill picked up too? It was all over the place west of Walmart.
