In response to the recent firing of Minot City Attorney, Colleeen Auer, this petition is meant to give a voice to concerned community members who want to see more progress in Flood Recovery & Prevention in the Souris River Valley.

Colleen Auer was fired for responding to the people of this community who want to see "Zombie Homes" GONE or RESTORED. City Manager Cindy Hemphill called it 'insubordination'. We call it progress.

I don't see family destroyed when I look at the zombie home next door to me. I look at two people who didn't want to go through the effort to clean and restore their new house like we did our home. I look at a couple who decided it was easier to abandon the home to foreclosure than deal with the paperwork and hoops we went through to get the money to restore our home. They were young and able bodied but had only owned the home for about 6 months. They must not think they're doing any harm but they don't have to live next to the stink or worry about the dead pine tree falling on their or our house. I'm angry. I'll admit it freely. I'm angry at that couple and I'm angry at the bank that has it now because nothing has been done in three years. I'm angry at the city for not protecting us, I'm angry that the levees haven't been shored up. I'm angry that the roads that were under 9 feet of water haven't been repaired. That's what happens after a flood.

Totally agree with disgusted, repair, and raise the levee system.

Arson is never an answer.

film..., there has been NO physical work done on the levees. All the money put into 'paper work' and ideas does not do one thing to protect the city from another flood. The levees are in disrepair along with the 300 properties that remain.

Easy solution to the problem. It's called, 1-calling the fire dept.,2- lighting a match,or 3-wait for 3 more years of doing nothing.

Ronaldo. So far the city has purchased 80 homes and demolished them for interim mitigation, and has plans to buy another 100 or so this year and do the same thing. In addition, work has been going on almost since before the flood ended on the engineering and plans for an $800 million dollar flood control project. It's only been mentioned in a few hundred articles and stories on the news and has a dedicated website, so I can understand why you might have missed it.

Some see a zombie home. I see a family and their home destroyed.

Addressing 40 years of sweeping flood protection under the rug. Educated people warned of our true flood potential but our right controllers don't like education. The truth was forecast about our flood potential. We need a name 4 those who ignored the advice or scoffed at it. Liar might fit. Living In A River, Lucky In A Raft, Longtooth In A Realestatedeal, Liars Is/Are Repubs. Lake Inventor At Rafferty. Let's say "dry dams" Albeit Reservoirs. Liars.
