Don't buy the paper Joe and it is not an article but a letter to the Editor by a Ms. Nancy Bommelman.

Open your eyes and you will find opines from both left and right...James Lien for one.

I am honestly embarrassed that the Minot Daily would publish an article such as this. This editorial offers nothing but an anecdote and some generally closed minded and xenophobic opinions. Is this drivel really the best Minot's newspaper can do? If you feel like giving an opinion on this topic that doesn't come across as completely without basis, provide some numbers to back up your point. Who runs this paper anyways? Absolutely pathetic.

I remember awhile back when people in Minnesota would complain about this, but the people were coming from Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I-94 was sometimes referred to as the "Welfare Pipeline". Haven't heard these complaints lately. I wonder what happened?

"Welfare has been abused by people since the very first week that it became available"

Yeah, you're probably right. How many years does the farm bill have on the other ones you got your eye on?

Welfare has been abused by people since the very first week that it became available. It will continue and esp. now with the democrats and libs again touting their spin on unemployment to justify Obamacare fall out.

"Go back to your broke state"

A little harsh Nancy! Have any idea how many thousands of North Dakotan's out migrated to Idaho in the 40's-90's?

Not all were successful either and some still live there...On welfare!

Turn off Rush and get some fresh air.

Yes...people that you described are a real irritant....but...what about the illegal immigrants that are coming to the US of A by the droves. They can't even speak English, don't have Social Security cards. But...they can certainly figure out where the welfare offices are!!!
