Obama: Just say maybe

January 27, 2014

Americans have gone from a White House with a “just say no” attitude toward illegal drugs to one recommending, in effect, “just say maybe....

All posters both liberal and conservatives are maggots chewing on the same piece of meat. Does anyone have anything other that political hyperbole to make things better?

"...(Republicans) hate working class people and are doing everything they can to destroy us and make it more and more difficult to find a job, raise a family, have health coverage, retire and just have a normal life."

Seriously? HAetc, your hyperpartisan rants are usually good for a laugh. Any rube or hick can see that a mile off.

Just more liberal partisan hot air, HAetc.

You relate voting for Obama was the lesser of two evils. How you describe it is called a stacked deck, no more, no less.

Here's the choices ala HAetc:

Obama (devoid of invective or criticism of any sort)

vs.

previous Republican candidates (all worthy of tarring/feathering and having earned every most egregious adjective for description)

Some of us out here on the plains can't be brainwashed, certainly not by this stuff.

Find a job more suited to your talents, HAetc. Doing tie-dye shirts might turn out well for you.

describes you quite well.

Obtuse may refer to: Obtuse angle, an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees

probably around the 180 mark in so many ways.

In the U.S., the gap between rich and poor is wider than it has been since the 1920s. The top 1% own 42% of the nation's wealth and on average made $717,000 per year from 2008-2012 compared to $53,046 for everyone else. While the financial crisis of 2008 may have hurt all of us somewhat, the 1% reaped 95% of all income gains since that time

"Meanwhile the brainwashed masses are willing to accept any number of restrictions on their personal liberties..."

This sentence from angeR helps to describe why I'm angry about being FORCED to dedicate a yet-to-be-determined portion of my personal income to purchase health insurance.

It's no longer a citizen's "right to choose"--this is the argument libs will use for safeguarding abortion rights, but heaven forbid that I would use it to decry Obamacare's mandates.

LOTS of people have awakened from the dream of "affordable" health care to find that Obamacare bites hard into their smaller-than-when-they-were-employed personal income.

Lastly, nobody likes a bait-and-switch, especially if the "gotcha" is on them.

I'm pro-life . . . but you'll have to pry my military-style assault rifle from dead, cold hands.

I'm a dedicated beer guzzler . . . but smoking pot is evil.

I'm pro-marriage . . . but been divorced three times.

I'm pro-fiscal restraint . . . but I get back TWO DOLLARS for every ONE DOLLAR of tax I pay.

I'm pro-America -- but I spend every waking moment attempting to tear down the nation.

Substitute "weed" for "soma" and "Brave New World" circa 2014 sings all over again...

"I don't understand anything," she said with decision, determined to preserve her incomprehension intact.

"Nothing. Least of all," she continued in another tone "why you don't take soma when you have these dreadful ideas of yours. You'd forget all about them. And instead of feeling miserable, you'd be jolly. So jolly..."

Bread, circuses and weed. Is this the Lib Trifecta?

It's amazing that this West Virginia news consortium can still manage to put out these silly missives -- considering that no one in the state can drink the water.

"Isn't this about freedom or do you prefer the 10 years to life punishment that use to be in place in some Land of Freedom states for the evil smokers? Whom by the way are spread across all political ranges."

WV, I believe I've gone on record in this forum supporting legalization. I was simply pointing out that the pinnacle of freedom for the left seems to be all about the freedom to destroy a few brain cells. Meanwhile the brainwashed masses are willing to accept any number of restrictions on their personal liberties as long as it doesn't interfere with their freedom to disengage.

angeR69 - "plunder from us any freedom that matters" Isn't this about freedom or do you prefer the 10 years to life punishment that use to be in place in some Land of Freedom states for the evil smokers? Whom by the way are spread across all political ranges.

The editorials are so acidic to the President. Why? Because they actually hate him. It's not about politics because politics surely has many sides. Not here though, and am sorry for that because like Extreme Left or Right positions most people are neither. Extremists by definitiion are not the norm.

"If you really want to fix the status quo of an employer based health care system, you have to level the playing field amongst all employers and remove the voluntary part of it and replace it with mandatory, and all employees, part time and full time . . ."

Sure? Why not? Nothing to see here, folks. Just taking a little more of your liberty. Move along now. Go smoke some of your finest green and we'll make all the important decisions for you.

Ever wonder why legalization of marijuana is such a big issue for the left these days? It's bread and circuses. It's the illusion of freedom, and while the masses are distracted with the spectacle, the statists will plunder from us any freedom that matters.

If you really want to fix the status quo of an employer based health care system, you have to level the playing field amongst all employers and remove the voluntary part of it and replace it with mandatory, and all employees, part time and full time, and including Hobby Lobby and the Catholic Church. That doesn't help level the playing field between us and all other modern countries around the world that subsidize their health care systems with universal coverage. We could always go the route of Medicare for all.

ProgLib, even Huffington Post has an article on recent Republican healthcare proposals. Get with the program. I'm not a diehard Republican either, but I digress.

The ones that are cry-babying bullies seem to be the progressives who are unhappy that Obamacare is as unpopular as it is. I can't fix the polls, I just read them.

Loco, if your Republican party really new that there was something really wrong with ObamaCare which your friends in the insurance industry essentially wrote, why hasn't anyone in your party brought up the failures besides just apposing it flat out? I guess non of your guys ever read it either, even up this very day. You guys have had ample time to try and help fix it, but instead, you have offered nothing. Nothing but cry-baby playground bullies.

cont...

"Republicans have often criticized the administration for making changes to the law after the fact. Other switches included the decision to delay the employer insurance mandate for a year, something many lawmakers said should have required a congressional vote.

"Obama changed the law to allow insurance companies to allow canceled plans after coming under criticism when millions of people found out their plans were no longer being offered despite Obama's repeated promise that under ObamaCare, people would be able to keep their insurance plans if they liked them.

"The change, the Republican attorney generals argue, exceeds precedents set by Supreme Court decisions."
