The last time I checked not many people were heading to the east coast to get away from the cold. They mainly like heading for Florida,Arizona,Texas,You know the red states. This must make them a bunch of the worst wimps.Goinpeace.

Good editorial. We dressed in layers with wind proof outer shells long b4 Columbia made coats. U expose a good point about east coast arrogance. Do u notice how much time the weather channel spends on the east coast compared to the rest of the country? The should call themselves "East coast weather and sometimes more". No ND cities listed in "Yesterdays temps accross the U.S." either. Fairbanks AK finally cooled to a -28 after a warmer Dec than we had.

Most North Dakotans are acclimated to the point that at 15 degrees we are just starting to get cold and consider 40 degrees to be a nice day. It was -31 at the lake the other day--it was cold.

Its all about the east coast and the blue states who cannot handle the real world..

Watched the Chicgo bull riding last night.. The designer clothes worn by the gay cowboys was quite interesting.

Unfortunately many of the stories about wearing boxes and plastic bags for shoes and liners are true. Believe me it was cold, all we had for winter was to put on an extra pair of blue jeans and keep busy working when out in the bitter cold. We would warm our hands in the water tank until they started to tingle then back to work. This is true, now days it would be considered abuse. Many people are to proud to say how bad they really had it.
