Well gosh, that's the amount of national debt that the Repubs claim Obama wasted and it was really just some more Republican tax-cut and deficit spending. Go figure...

I feel it's getting funneled to Obamacare.....something that will not cost the taxpayer one dime....and will be paid for by cutting fraud and waste in the Medi's....and this Pentagon money.

The policy of the right on a budget deal has been zero cuts in defense. The sequester up set that plan. Most surely a policy paid 4 by the military industrial complex because because military pay was cut in the new budget deal. Cost of living increases were cut for retirees under 62. New Fed civilian hires will pay more 4 retirement. their cost will rise from 8% to 9.3% of their pay. Good news 4 reds because they can protect the mil ind. complex and take it out on the working class scoundrels. They continue to focus on Social Security even though it is fully funded till 2033 and small changes to how much we pay 4 it and who gets it at retirement; could fix it for scores of years. If you have been in DOD u know there is much can b cut with no impact on the mission. The politics is not about r military but rather about the spending to the mil. ind. complex. Textbook Pol. Science stuff.

The repub. party we used to respect might just b back. Boehner's slam on the t party was probably requested b the moderate reds. Whatever the reason he will gain favor with many voters 4 calling the t party on their idiotic ideology.

JackAaah, maybe you should consider your freedom a gift. I don't personally know RugbyReader but I do know that anyone that served in the military long enough to retire deserves what they get and more. Until you know what your talking about just keep quite, your jealously is making a fool of you.

I don't need anyone to actually fight for my freedom any longer....as long as I feel safe by keeping all our soldiers on the homeland.....that is gift enough for me....and Rugby....

Here I thought some would have been happy to see an editorial that talks about "wasteful...spending" especially "wasteful Pentagon spending."

Responsible accounting would shed light into any government department's expenditures.

It's a good thing...

landslide2014, I served in Viet Nam and I remember how it was walking thru SF airport after getting off the freedom bird. I didn't agree with the invasion of Iraq but I do support the troops 110%. You are wrong with your observations about Rugby Reader. He, like me doesn't support Bush and Cheney's war lies but he does support the men and women in uniform. Not everyone in uniform protects our country by fighting in that war. There are thousands in uniform that protect our country by keeping our aircraft and missiles ready to defend our country at a moments notice. If I were in a foxhole with someone that liked war or killing I would not only be worried but I would be scared.

Landslide aka Dusty, go read a history book, Bush senior installed a partial no-fly zone over part of Iraq, which only included fixed wing aircraft, but which allowed Saddam to use all of his helicopters to kill his citizens at will and with our blessing. Evidently we didn't want Saddam overthrown or Iraq splitting up. It all really had to do with outflanking Iran.

Bush Jr.'s second war was also an attempt to outflank Iran, this time using Afghanistan and Iraq. Too bad it all backfired and Iran is stronger than ever.

Saint Nicholas, the model for the modern Santa Claus, was not only a real person (and a Saint), but he was also known for many wonderful deeds that we all associate with the Holiday Season.

"Santa Claus TODAY"

Seems you had to recalibrate your statement, Sounds familiar.

Fact is easter bunny and tooth fairy are based on fantasy whereas Santa Claus was based on a REAL person, period.

I am amazed matman, that you equate that quote to willgarr after listening to a diatribe of blogs from mudslide. To equate the illegal invasion of a sovereign nation with the Iraq/Iran war is ludicrious. Mudslide is an old man, on government subsidies, who has no military service, shooting his mouth off about being a world policeman. That being said, did we not support these dictatorships in the past. It also does not make right that the President of the US would stoop to lie just to get us into a war over oil contracts and his own personal vindictiveness. Yep, you wingers and run, but you cannot hide. It is a liars war and hundreds of thousands died at the hands of the US.

Rugby - I wish you wouldn't call names and make false accusations about me....as I do support you being in it only for the 'gifts' you could get. I have found out that is what we all should be doing....getting gifts, as someone else will cover them...I don't care who, as long as I too get those gifts, too.

And baloney to those that say we should actually earn those gifts...agreed, Rugby?
