Well gosh, that's the amount of national debt that the Repubs claim Obama wasted and it was really just some more Republican tax-cut and deficit spending. Go figure...

Here I thought some would have been happy to see an editorial that talks about "wasteful...spending" especially "wasteful Pentagon spending."

Responsible accounting would shed light into any government department's expenditures.

It's a good thing...

landslide2014, I served in Viet Nam and I remember how it was walking thru SF airport after getting off the freedom bird. I didn't agree with the invasion of Iraq but I do support the troops 110%. You are wrong with your observations about Rugby Reader. He, like me doesn't support Bush and Cheney's war lies but he does support the men and women in uniform. Not everyone in uniform protects our country by fighting in that war. There are thousands in uniform that protect our country by keeping our aircraft and missiles ready to defend our country at a moments notice. If I were in a foxhole with someone that liked war or killing I would not only be worried but I would be scared.

Landslide aka Dusty, go read a history book, Bush senior installed a partial no-fly zone over part of Iraq, which only included fixed wing aircraft, but which allowed Saddam to use all of his helicopters to kill his citizens at will and with our blessing. Evidently we didn't want Saddam overthrown or Iraq splitting up. It all really had to do with outflanking Iran.

Bush Jr.'s second war was also an attempt to outflank Iran, this time using Afghanistan and Iraq. Too bad it all backfired and Iran is stronger than ever.

Saint Nicholas, the model for the modern Santa Claus, was not only a real person (and a Saint), but he was also known for many wonderful deeds that we all associate with the Holiday Season.

"Santa Claus TODAY"

Seems you had to recalibrate your statement, Sounds familiar.

Fact is easter bunny and tooth fairy are based on fantasy whereas Santa Claus was based on a REAL person, period.

I am amazed matman, that you equate that quote to willgarr after listening to a diatribe of blogs from mudslide. To equate the illegal invasion of a sovereign nation with the Iraq/Iran war is ludicrious. Mudslide is an old man, on government subsidies, who has no military service, shooting his mouth off about being a world policeman. That being said, did we not support these dictatorships in the past. It also does not make right that the President of the US would stoop to lie just to get us into a war over oil contracts and his own personal vindictiveness. Yep, you wingers and run, but you cannot hide. It is a liars war and hundreds of thousands died at the hands of the US.

Isn't that nice! The US Army corps of engineers spent millions (of our money) on renovating a tunnel in Afgan. All the while, much of our infrastructure is crumbling. BS

Yes, mudslide, you are the supreme businessman who employs people, pays enormous taxes, and works on your business fourteen hours a day. Yep, and you blog at all hours, are on medicare and Social Security. But, you have a business and it is sooooo successful. Oh, and lets not forget that military service you did not have. You spout an old mans alzheimers view of the world. Although I have to admit that it is funny to read your repeated blogs and all of their insane views. You are the joke of the blog from everyone including many of the conservatives. Carry on old foolish one.

This is centerish's gift to all bloggers who would dare to disagree with her view of the universe, just in time for a Merry Christmas.

Budget Deal Cuts Retiree COLA

Week of December 16, 2013

The budget deal crafted by Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Patty Murray is being celebrated as a bipartisan agreement that would help avoid another round of government closures and fiscal cliff threats. However, the budget deal also calls for reducing the annual retirement cost of living adjustment (COLA) for working age retirees (those under age 62) by one full percentage point - setting the rate at one percent below the actual Consumer Price Index - the measure of inflation used to determine Social Security and VA program adjustments each year.

there isn't a governmental agency that couldn't stand to have major reduction done to it. And quite a few that flat out need to be eliminated.

What a great blog, whistlestop, mudslide is the best!!!! You and loco really need some rehab this Christmas season. Loco, you seem to have internal conflicts when it comes to my blogging. Since the very first time that I corrected your blogging with facts, you have an affinity to become very indignant about putting the truth on the blog. Your sources are mostly right wing rags that you hilariously believe. Then whistlestop comes along and he posts little factual information to back his material as well. But, you are very good at making fun of people with comments totally off the subject especially when you don't have any factual basis for your view. But, keep it up because your blogs are always good for laughs.
