This fire today is about 99% Arson tell yourself this how can a building catch fire twice and last time it look about the same completion it look like today before the fire. Also Minot City Fire ISO rating is like a 4 this ISO rating is for home owners insurance rate the lower the number the better the rate. Older parts of Minot had small water mains and can't flow lots of water. If Minot had a ISO rating of 2 or 3 your insurance could go down a few hundred dollars. Note to be a 1 rating well there are only about 60 fire department in the USA that has that rating. Here is a fact here of you live outside the city your rating from Minot rural is between a 9 and 10 Protected that is the highest number your can get. I had a person come here from Idaho he had a 10 Unprotected for his house so no fire dept. would come and that is a fact some people don't want insurance. Trust me I so tax and insurance stuff for a living.

All it takes is a big fire like 73hockey said Deadwood and Chicago they learned from there big fire that is why they built brick and concrete homes and buildings with Standpipes. Also Chicago on their Fire hydrants they have two 5" more water flow not like Minot has two 2-1/2" and one 4-1/2" not much water flow there. Then By listing to the scanner feed online if sound like at for a moment all Engines and Ladders were at fires. If Minot had another big fire we would be in trouble. Like the Minot Daily News Article of the Minot Police, Fire and Ambulance called the new busy normal. The city fire department need more engines and ladder truck to cover the city growth. By my opinion the city needs 8 Engines, 4 Ladders trucks. and one big rescue unit because this city of Minot is no small city no more we went from 17 square miles to 28 square miles in a few year from now who knows it could be 40 or 50 square mile by then.

The cause of this latest--and second--fire will eventually be determined by the fire marshall, but, if this fire turns out to be "squatters" or arson, I know for a fact that at least one resident of the Chateau had alerted IRET weeks ago to the deficiencies in overnight security at the site!

In Sept 1879 Deadwood pretty much burned to the ground because mostly all of the city was made of wood. They re-built with brick to make safer from fire and the city still stands as it did after the re-build. In the City of Minot, we have reverted and allowed HUGE structures (apartments, hotels) to be made of wood. Prayers to the Firefighters, Police, etc. fighting this and with those affected that are probably experiencing evacuation or no water or power.
