No more new taxes in Minot

November 10, 2013

Karen E. Fawbush, Minot Well, well, well, here we go again! Big surprise! Now there is another entity plus a “special” committee that wants to put their hands in our pockets....

When was that issue brought up? It's sad to see the people over and over have to pull a rabbit out of their pockets instead of having some money or a legacy fund set up so a school can be built or something.....

But if you remember the school board ran a bond vote to try and get another grade school built in SE Minot - south of the bypass - because there was growth in the area and the voters said no. The school district has tried.

How do you support the inner-workings of a community when you see one part of Minot favored over and over lately compared those now who will be paying more taxes even before the bond? I am sorry it's called doing research and not force the hand.....I can see why South Prairie wants a new school now as there are some portables but a not a whole lot like Minot kept building and building and building and not addressing when the need was there...Like I said before those who are involved in the City Workings were asked 6 to 7 years ago would Minot have the problem like the other smaller communities and they said no. Now we're again being reactive instead of being proactive.....

For the past 40 year Minot residence have voted NO. Like it or not, to be apart of a community you need to support the inner workings of a community.

I have never needed the Fire Department to save my home from burning, I gladly pay this tax every year to support them.

Interesting how we forget the need for educated help at our stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc... But instantly complain about the new work force being lazy.

Education and workers go hand in hand, understand that for the past 40 years we have been telling our future workers (our children) that we are more concerned with keeping taxes low and using that money for our own enjoyment versus investing in them threw the building of schools.

Agree. It is time Minot gets more responsible with our money. We would not have voted for the last 1$ tax if we knew this was coming. We have not had good snow removal in years yet there is always money for frills. let's make Minot turn the corner--Vote No.

Vote no as you need the facts as to how much your property taxes will be going up before the bond as some because of these commercial properties will be going up $1,000 a year before the bond. Now how fair is that? Like I said before NO, NO, NO! I am tired of sounding like a broken record...there needs to be responsible reporting and tell the truth.......

"and I use the word owners loosely as we never actually own our home, business and land because the city holds it for ransom every year."

I love that! And we will be voting no also. WE are going to have to find out about the property tax waiver!
