Tell you what? I'll sit on this thread and dig it out later when I find you being unfaithful to your commitment to receptiveness to "all sources of information".

Why do I find that so hard to believe?

"I do not readily dismiss PHD's in Economics who've spent years compiling data without bias"

"Without bias"? How could you possibly know that? Is it deemed "without bias" because you happen to agree with the conclusions? And what if PhDs in Econ arrive at conclusions you disagree with? Will you still be so confident in and vocal about the goodness of those outcomes?

"...many,many people across America do not believe Barack Obama is the President of the United States..."

This is not a fact, Veritas. This is your overactive imagination. Period.

i think winners and losers is a term used by the right when the wealth of the wealthy is threatened. follow the money and you see oil and medicine take too much. the fed infuses alternate energy sources and medicare/medicaid plus the ACA because the costs of oil/med are unbearable to many. it is an attempt at leveling. the money has flowed or redistributed to the top thru wage controls and restricted competition. it is not evil for business to maximize profits, but when they are too successful at it, others suffer from it to a point where the playing field is not fair. greenspan said greed is the problem and i agree. our oil companies advertise "energy independence" while they export and import the stuff at will. without controls on exports, energy independence is mostly a lie with the production today. in theory wages would be the best levelor but raising wages to meet oil/medical prices would not be fair to businesses who operate at lower prifit margins.

Sensible letter and posts, Matt. Thanks.

Beaverfan, I liked your common sense approach - don't spend what you don't have. Yeah!

It's simple really, don't spend money you don't have. From the bottom up, that's how it works. STOP THE BORROWING. The only time money should be "borrowed" is when it can increase your financial position. Borrowing money for stupid stuff, is not going to increase your financial position. From the top down, borrowing has to stop.

Perhaps the party needs a more explicit statement that it opposes government "picking winners and losers". It is access to government officials and their direction of tax money that has built much of what the 1% has become. More detail on this on another thread dealing with the school bond now being discussed in Minot...

Come on, you know better than THAT. You know as well as I do that anyone can use any set of statistics to prove anything they want; you may notice that I don't tend to argue with them very often.

When following the field of statistics, there are certain principles of which one must always be mindful: "Correllation does not imply causation", "Figures lie and liars figure"

Again, there's a reason you almost never see me arguing using statistics. Ultimately, they are a mental crutch that give people an excuse not to think about issues in the thorough, holistic manner that they deserve.

OK...and which "anarchists" are you talking about? You do realize that most people don't really know what "anarchists" are nor do they know much about their actual political philosophy, right? There's more to it than simple "bomb-thrower" stereotypes...

Point: over the course of the last century, there was not always Democratic majorities nor was there always Republican majorities. To suggest too much of anything calls your credibility into question.

"Facts"? Would either of you mind telling us all exactly when that happened? A balanced budget? I just saw a chart the other day that showed the United States running some kind of deficit virtually every single year save for a mythical golden age during the late 1990's when a surplus was actually generated.

Just keep in mind that being a spendthrift is bipartisan. your comment constitutes the same kind of overheated rhetoric and melodramatic posturing that I warned would not yield any lasting solutions.

RR, what's your problem with the Canadian? Obama hired a Canadian company to install the system for Obama care. Now you Canadian insurance.
