time to repeat this, me thinks. Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06 right in the doorway. I left 6 shells beside it, then left it alone and went about my business. While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of our house. After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world. Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat. Original? No. Source? don't have one

Gosh, whistler, on such an important subject, I am impressed with your research. So, could you please present your factual sites of where you got this information. Please, pretty please. Because when one researches the information you presented, it does not compute. Another right wing source that does nothing but tell lies and pretend to know something, which you don't. But, the sad part is that someone just like you, well, YOU,*****it up and regurgitate so you can look like the fool you are. Oh, and I am not baiting you, I looked them up. Just one example: The Virginia Tech shooter-Seung-Hai Cho- was a registered Democrat--- NO!! He was a resident alien who was not registered with anyone. Is your nose growing, Pinocchio?

Want another one, whistler- James Holmes-the Aurora Theatre shooter---This came from Brietbarts blogger Joel Pollack who researched it and made the claim. Breitbart retracted the statement because after they checked things out, they found that he had the wrong James Holmes- Your source must have missed the retraction. Actually, the shooter James Holmes was not a registered voter. Game for another one, whistler.

Well, this discussion has taken the usual course.

Here's a fun piece of trivia related to this story. It wasn't mentioned in this version, but the spokeswoman at the hospital where the victims are being treated her last name, get this, is Rambo.

Some more observations about this story now that I've reread them:

1) This attack didn't appear to actually happen within the school, but outside. We talk about locking down schools with all kind of security to keep these attacks out. And so they do, but the attacks still happen. Security systems can be defeated by any number of means.

2) ONe of the talking points advanced in recent months is that you don't need "a good guy with a gun" to stop "a bad guy with a gun". Accompanying this talking point are cherrypicked examples of where prospective victims simply talked to the gunman and indeed convinced him to surrender his weapon. This method was also attempted in this Nevada attack. The gunman failed to comply and it cost the teacher his life. Simply talking to the gunman and telling him to surrender his weapon may work sometimes, but it's no guarantee that it will happen every single time it's attempted. Wanna roll the dice? OK. But don't lay an expecta

But don't lay an expectation to do likewise on everyone else.

Whistler, You forgot one mass murder. On 20 March 2003 President Bush, yes a republican Pres. started an illegal War which resulted in 4,500 American troops being Murdered by his illegal War.

If you're going to play that game, then play that game.

Lyndon Johnson, president of the United States, and yes, a Democrat, started an illegal war in SE Asia based on something known as the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, which was later confirmed by many--on both sides of the war--to have never happened at all. Millions died in that war.

That's fine, RR, just holding you accountable for being consistent.

And with that in mind, what have we learned? Is it particularly wise to try to make such starkly partisan points (this applies to whoever said "ban guns for Democrats" too)?

You people get so distracted and run off on the most absurd of sidetracks sometimes that you completely lose sight of the original topic.

Gosh, whistler, if you keep going to right wing sites, what do you expect? Lets take them again.: I'm not sure HOW Seung-Hui Cho could have been a "registered Democrat" given that:

a) He was Korean national with permanent residency status, not a U.S. citizen.

b) He lived all of his adult life in Virginia, a state which does not record party affiliation in the voter registration process. A good researcher would double check the sources. As I stated before, almost all of your examples are false but, go ahead and swim in your deluded world.
