Who defines essential?

October 15, 2013

During a partial shutdown of the government, there isn’t enough money to keep national parks open, but federal wildlife areas can be opened to waterfowl hunting....

"Republicans played their hand, and lost big, now it is the time for them to ask politely for meager things. It is time for Republicans to know their place, because we will certainly put them in their place next November."

This is the new bi-partisanship?

I don't respond to bullies.

Where did the $24 billion go, willgrr?

Tell us in which part of the economy was it "lost."

Maybe standing up to the Democrats was the best thing the Republicans could ever have done. Rolling over and playing dead about real policies affecting real Americans is unacceptable.

Until Dec. 13th...

Should we develop a poll that would ask citizens if they approved/disapproved of the administration's closure & barricades of national vets memorials and parks during the recent shutdown? How about closing roads to Mount Rushmore and other popular destinations? What about that making the shutdown hurt Americans, the little guys & gals, the taxpayers, WWII vets?

"Under the agreement to reopen the government, the House and Senate are directed to hold talks and reach accord by Dec. 13 on a long-term blueprint for tax and spending policies over the next decade...."

"This moves us into the next phase of the same debate," said Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat. "Our hope is now that Speaker Boehner and his caucus have played out their scenario with a tragic outcome, perhaps they’ll be willing to be more constructive..."

"Unfortunately, the Washington establishment is failing to listen to the American people," (Cruz) said as he emerged from a meeting of Senate Republicans called to ratify the agreement..."

The newest feel-good Democrat talking point and no, you didn't hear it here first...

"We don't negotiate with terrorists."

The first three words were sufficient for the party of NO, the Democrats...

"We don't negotiate."

Unfortunately for the administration apologists, there is now another deadline: Dec. 13th.

centerish, I know you meant something for me in your rant, but I really can't figure out what it is...

Sympathy? Empathy? Warnings?

Hmmm....No, just the same old partisan talking points.

AS IF there were no Democrats and no Democrat president that fully "participated" in the shutdown. "Closed" signs made up ahead of time? Personnel on duty to keep people out of national parks & memorials? Denying benefits to grieving military families? All on purpose and done for effect? Appears so.

It's obvious that it takes two parties to do the DC tango, and I can see who does NOT care about little guys in America.

Sen. Harry Reid's party, the party of NO, doesn't care about little guys.

Loco, that is what you say to domestic terrorists and blackmailers. No, No, and No. You don't negotiate with terrorist. You really don't know what you are talking about. The Republicans got the budget they had been screaming about for years but because of stupidity and hatred, they have lost the people. The other hate bloggers BDGI, dusty, animal, whistler, are spouting material that the national conservative commentators and media people are not even spouting. Talk about out of step with your own conservative party....you are.

I think it's high time that people start defining Democrats just as they are...

The Party of NO WAY ON THIS EARTH will we negotiate, compromise, work on the deficit and/or debt, disrupt Obamacare in spite of its unpopularity, think about the little guy, etc.

Not any more. These are NOT your parents' Democrats...

This is one fact that Dems/libs fail to remember...

They were part and parcel of the gov't shutdown, as in implementing it fully and in the nastiest ways possible (vet memorials, park roads, etc).

The Democrat party of NO said NO repeatedly, loudly and belligerently. Sen. Harry Reid talks for the entire Senate, does he? Apparently he does. He kept saying "there's no way" to any other way but his and the president's way.

Sen. Harry Reid is a one-way street to a debt with NO ceiling.

Why Whistler, they only double talk like Obama does. Why should I listen to Legend? My first house, was 10 1/2 %, There was a Democrat in Office, at least in North Dakota, was in "75". I am going to listen to Dave Ramsey, who calmly puts it out for people that want to hear it. I see their name, don't read their post's.

back to article: waterfowl production areas are not typically vandalized and do not require a fulltime monitor. parks are vandalized and abused routinely and must be monitored so wpa's can reopen. the lincoln memorial was vandalized a short time ago. side note: when boehner and Pres are shown side by side--boehner has darker skin--well dark orange. MAFB had to cx the custodial contract from shutdown or sequester--includes their toilet paper suply, now workers bring their own. tp can joke all they want about the cuts--the real world is a different story. there are many cuts that would be quite painless but the military industrial complex would feel the pinch--therefore they lobby to prevent those cuts. i say let's come home from places like bengazi. we could eavesdrop on what goes on there instead. ever hear a red suggest that? Why does the military have ball teams anyway? too much money--thats why.

Yep, bdgi, the Republicans are speaking for the people... Yep, 70% or more wanted registration on guns but did they listen..NOOOOO. 72% don't want a government shutdown for changes in obamacare. Did the Republicans listen??? NOOOOOOO. The party of the right wing will depart from the political scene with ted cruz as their leader. Now that is great... the second coming of Joe McCarthy is here and he is a right winger. You all should be proud of that, loco, dusty, bdgi, animal, and the rest. What a crazy you have there. Good bye , republican party. oh, and take that loser, Boehnor with you. Remember, he needs to be kept under the sun lamp or he will turn white.

Sen. Harry Reid thinks HE should define what is essential in any bill the House comes up with...

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday (oct. 15) that an alternative debt limit and government funding plan promoted by conservative Republicans in the House of Representatives could not win approval in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

"Reid said the plan, which was discussed at a House Republican meeting on Tuesdays morning, was "an extreme piece of legislation and it's nothing more than a blatant attack on bipartisanship.""

Sen. Harry Reid is a one-man party of NO

Sen. Harry Reid is holding the entire Senate hostage by HIS demands

Bring it to a vote, Sen. Reid!
