A lack of common sense

October 5, 2013

Part of the reason so many Americans are fed up with government in general is that too often, bureaucrats display a complete lack of common sense. During World War II, Joe McGrain of Rochester, N.Y....

DustOff, being a woman capable of understanding common sense AND rules, I'd say those rules to which you were referring have no common sense, so they need not apply to us women of common sense. Just sayin' RR...

The Pea Tardies can't decide if they want to take credit for shutting down the government -- or lay the blame on Obama . . . so they're trying to do both!

Nobody does the old "circular firing squad" act like these assault rifle loving Republicans.

Not with my household budget!

Or said this way: don't spend it if you don't have it

I've seen that you've said this before, Legend, but saying it again still doesn't make it 100% correct.

"They are protecting their contributors from the health care/pharmaceutical industries by overturning the Affordable Health care "Law"."

BC/BS customers received letters about their rates going up in Jan. 2014, some more than double, even in spite of high deductibles.

Yep, those insurance companies are going to make out like bandits under obamacare, especially with the youngsters being forced (mandated) to buy insurance, for years and years.

Looks like the insurance companies will benefit with Democrat help now...

Sorry, but I can't believe this at all.

those public laces must be monitored per the rules. The Lincoln M. was recently vandalized. Those places are non-essential when money is tight. negotiations were over on the CR which is very close to the Ryan budget. any demands now are blackmail. as far as success--the is bailouts kept us from disaster. we need a jobs bill--those work and that is why the reds won't allow it. austerity is proven to fail. trickle down is proven to fail. if he has not done great on anything it is because he has not been given the chance. the price of gas is too high for great growth. to many businesses it is far more costly than anything that happens in healthcare. but oil is red so nothing can or will be done about it--except for ethonol and fuel standards. can you explain why we export such a precious commodity--or how it can be economical to send it from central canada to the gulf by pipe? would they do the same with water if it wasn't public managed?

Russ: it is my experience that those who use Obama's middle name hate him, love rush, voted for the t party and did not listen to their plans. if the t party had their way the public places you list and most public places would be exploited for natural resources and then left for business profit. They only whine now because the public is watching and believe me the public is watching their self-centered and 2 faced behavior. western ND oil work is a good example--and much of it is for export.

Lack of "common sense" goes right to Harry Reid and Barack Hussein Obama. It is their directives to the bureaucrats to make it "as painful as possible onthe little people" Trying to close the ocean in Florida or the forest in Washington state or the sand dunes in Oregon as well as parking lots, and walk through memorials shows the complete lack of any common sense. Their only response is to keep repeating "We are not going to negotiate, we are not going to negotiate, we are not going to negotiate. The only way to deal with Obama or Reid is to do what Putin did and put an imprint of his size 13 on Obama's rear end.

I for one am sick and tired of all this being blamed on President Bush. He was a big spender yes and I disagreed with that but he's not been president for quite some time. The health care law is a mess as well. Pelosi herself said we had to read it to find out what was in it.. Republicans and Democrats alike are at fault and it's high time our elected officials, who happen to work for "we the people", start to lead, follow or move. That goes for the president as well. Yesterday I read that they kicked some Vietnam vets out of the Vietnam Memorial...This is getting beyond ridiculous.

It's kind of interesting isn't it how the same people will scream we must balance the budget and then scream about the taxes in Obamacare that were put there because we are back to pay-go which balanced the budget before the Republicans took over.

The stimulus is needed at this time, but it's temporary. Pay-go worked once as a part of the road to a balanced budget, then the Dems passed taxes during a time of a hot economy that the other choice was let the Fed send interest through the roof, and then the public voted to throw them out for balancing the budget.

Have times changed?

D3: are blues bending now on the medical device tax? reds are marching to orders and asking to stop the tax. looks like pharma money did not buy blues. jobs programs are proven to spur the economy and may cost nothing after all taxes are collected from the increase in econ. activity. i do not know why the Pres. didn't stop the Afgan. war but don't blame him for starting it. fox talk said they could not find one who signed up for aca. Mn. State said 5,000 signed up there. hint to fox talk--stop looking in bengazi; aca is in U.S.

D3: the last 2 wars were not started by libs. google presidents and spending. only a fool would like our debt but austerity will not bring the economy back--that is why we are crawling. a jobs program would pay for itself and reduce our debt. cuts to military spending would reduce debt. corporate welfare cuts would reduce debt. google presidents and taxes. "tax and spend liberals" does not reflect history. yes some libs spend too much but they do not have a monopoly on it.

the influence of oil and pharma and casino money on our Gov. in the tp is bad enough. if they ever reduce our Gov. to where they want it, they would completely control it. you don't see the same behavior in rich blues--they promote opportunity for all and support for the least of his people. Our Fed. could be trimmed but not to the point of aristocracy.

WA: The tp is heavy funded by koch oil money. do you really think our rich, oil loving Governor would attack the tp--when both love oil money? the mistake was made by those who listened to the vile talk of the tp and voted for them. Obama is right to challenge their blackmail tactic and crush them once and for all. it is only now those misguided voters are seeing what Gov. by the rich might be. we have to be willing to hold out until they are fully exposed to the voters. pay attention rich blues did not buy a tp. that is why i lean left. don't blame all Sen/Reps. because there are many good patriots among them.

We need to get rid of ALL of the staffers who ingrain the process of DC into each NEW elected senator or representative. Get all new people and let the members of congress find their own way.

According to Republicans, any group or organization that will sway public opinion away from their party will be considered essential to them. Oh, and missy, can you bring some facts to the table? You know, even a little tidbit. I know, I know, you don't have any facts. Get a life, Jackaaa, everyone knows the Republicans wanted the shut down the affordable care "LAW". There are tapes everywhere as far back as two years ago where Republicans publically proclaimed their intent to shut the government down. They are protecting their contributors from the health care/pharmaceutical industries by overturning the Affordable Health care "Law". Go back to being the good Republican that you were before.

Maybe it is time that all Americans get together and petition to our State Governors to have all our Federal Senators and Legeslators to be removed from office and have a special election be held to elect new officials that will represent all of the interest of the American people! We need to clean out DC!

Remember the last campaign when we heard from the right "we all know the govt. can't do anything right and I would close 3 depts. of the gov." and their position on cuts was everything but defense. We hear endless jokes about non-essential fed workers. When rights would not sign the agreed to CR, the President was forced to tell all agencies to stop all non-essential work. And the right who insisted the fed be torn down is now WHINING AND BASHING because White House tours, the CDC, Head Start, the WWII memorial and other closings caught the attention of the public. NOW they want those opened back up and blame the Pres. Obama does not decide what is closed--the individual agency heads do. This is the T Party exposed--radical, fed hating, ignorant about government and extremely TWO-FACED. One congressman (R) ripped into a park ranger for a closed facility--a park ranger who takes orders and did not decide what to close. The t party is to blame for all the closings. they wante

The people most "fed up with government" -- ironically -- are the people most dependent on it.

If you're so fed up -- stop feeding off of the hard work of others.

ND is, by definition, a welfare state -- taking out twice what they put in.

You can call your welfare checks "subsidies" and "tax incentives" all you want. They're still WELFARE CHECKS.

I think we all know it is our Democrat Party, Rugby, that wants this shutdown more than Republicans. I just like it that we can blame them for the shutdown, even though we will do all we can to keep it going....
