I guess its not to shocking to spend that much money anticipating the structure will only last 20 years. Will the new airport have "Bic" written on it, you know the throw away type.

Actually, EarlyBird, it's being built so that if it outgrows itself in 20 years, gates can be added on to each side without the need to reconstruct ticketing, baggage claim and security. It may be too small in 20 years with six gates, but not 12 if the additions are needed. That's a pretty good mixture of forethought and savings if you ask me.

So let me get this straight. We are in a government shut down over money and spending. But we think its a good idea and people applaud the spending of tax dollars for the airport. I bet these are the very same people who say we need to cut spending. You can't have it both ways. You cant say taxes are too high and we need to cut government spending but then line up and say where's my money?..... Get real. If the Minot airport needs money they can figure it out without government help. Imho

Was Hoeven here for this like he was when Jamestown got Federal money for their airport? A couple of years ago? Complaints at that time fell on deaf ears or at least were rebuffed by the statement that all airports are entitled to federal money. Why? No one answered that question. The parking lot alone should be self supporting with all the vehicles parking up there.
