Millions of Americans can already get healthcare. It's called Medicaid. This what the monies Congress is using privately to sign these people up with. There is more of a crisis with companies cutting back their insurance programs. It's not ready to go into law and you should have been working on it instead of this silliness. People aren't trained to ensure people signed up are getting the most appropriate insurance and such. Take a book from the states who have the measures in place. If that's the case it should be back in the power of states and not Congress. So shut it down then.

I guess now we'll see what is truly necessary and what people can really live without. My guess is that, like the sequester, we'll barely notice.

I suspect that the 800,000 or more workers who have just been furloughed or those directly affected by the shutdown, will have a much different opinion on the issue than Matt has.
