Taxation without representation

September 30, 2013

More than two centuries ago, Americans fought a War of Independence in large measure because our ancestors would not submit to taxation without representation....

Classic, just classic, first invoke taxation without representation and then call for our representatives to stop it, showing that there is indeed representation.

Must have been a wild one at the bar again last night.

Taxation without what? Lets talk about "Blackmail". That sits closer to the truth for the right wing tea party and the Republicans. The Republican party is proving that they care more about power for the big donors and corporations than they do for the people of this country. Why do the winger blogger disagree with facts? Veritas just posted facts that can be checked for veracity but a lame brain winger disagreed. So, mr. blogger, present you facts to disagree with those figures. But, the Republicans would cut money from meals on wheels, snap programs, and other helpful programs but defend a massive giveaway to energy. It actually would be easy to call the acts of the Republican house an act of domestic terrorism.

Perhaps the gov't, currently the Obama administration, future--who knows, is calling in their "influence" on traditional energy. We give you subsidies, we dictate terms. Plausible?

Why don't ALL energy sources give up their subsidies and go it alone in the marketplace? Like that's so going to happen...

I think our current scenario is

Taxation With Representation

Not what it's cracked up to be...

So...could we all agree to get rid of the subsidies? The problem is, mandating the use of something, though not a direct payment, is a form of subsidy. Are we brave enough to do away even with that?

To some it's worth paying a little more tax so they and their families can breathe (clean) air.

Bills, including tax bills, are passed by Congress. Interestingly, both Dems and Reps have gone in for exempting themselves from the laws they deem appropriate for the masses.

The latest, and presumably greatest, example of a tax bill that exempts Congress and federal workers (until it doesn't exempt them, due to public outrage) is Obamacare.

"It's good for thee, but not for me" saith the lords to the underlings. (No source, just my rambling opinion.)

C'mon - if it's so "wonderful," let's all do it, ok?

"This talk of everyone going on Obamacare is tea party insanity. It was only intended for those who have no or insufficient health ins."

Have you talked to people who presently have insurance? Many, many people will pay increased premiums come Jan. 2014.

Is this an intended consequence of Obamacare? Way, way more premiums money for insurance companies?

"But loco is worried about the poor insurance companies. Go figure."

Twilight zone material here.

Willy, pay attention! You read Loco's comment about the insurance companies, and THAT is what you take away from it? What are you smoking today?

You just made her point. You just agreed with Loco, and you don't even realize it do you?
