We all know that if everyone would take responsibility for their own lot, we would not be in the situation that we find ourselves. Was this couple the actual owner, or renters? As owners, they will have a nice hefty bill added to their property tax!

Talked with one of the mowing crews the other day as they were preparing to mow one of the worst of many private lots. Worker knocked on the door, a young lady came to answer. Worker made note that they were there to mow the yard....girl looks at him and notes that he would have to talk to the husband. Worker enters the door and the husband is laying on the couch.....knock yourself out??? So you tell me....who's issue is it??

I just don't understand why you volunteer over and over and it's frustrating as not a lot of people received help. Stop the smoke and mirrors......

I'll see ya Saturday...I'll look for the one piss'n and moaning....dragging the volunteers down to the bottom where you dwell. It's a learned behavior and you won't be able to abstain.

He presents negatives for each suggestion. for instance, he said that documentation for weed spraying was too time consuming. Unlike waiting till the weeds are 5 feet high or having to cut the lawns more than once/year. Two years out, he should have been proactive in his approach to cleaning up the city. His responses sound like the job is too overwhelming for him. btw, see you Friday and Saturday to assist with the clean up

And it would be helpful if the article had included contact information, times for meeting, etc for all those wishing to volunteer. According to Facebook, it starts each day at 8:30.

I believe it is time for Dan Jonasson, public works director for Minot, to be replaced with a 'yes, we can' sorta guy and get rid of his 'no we can't do this' attitude. Those abandoned lots are ultimately the responsibility of the city. If the volunteers clean up all the city owned property, will the city employees be cleaning the abandoned lots?
