I agree with Frank. Tearing down the buildings we have to build new is foolish. There are few motels out by the fairgrounds. If there is going to be a new convention center, build it someplace else. What does a convention center have to do with improving the fair? I do kind of like the idea of putting the pioneer village in the hands of the park system. It looks great right where it is too.

A fair is a gathering of people to display or trade produce or other goods, to parade or display animals and often to enjoy associated carnival or funfair entertainment.

Building a convention center at the fairgrounds will displace a lot of activities, groups, and events we associate with this annual event.

There are more suitable locations to build a convention center, and we have to ask if it is appropriate to use public dollars and public property to build a center that will compete with local hotels and businesses.
