July 25, 2013

Presidents are right to insist the Pentagon prepare serious contingency plans to meet any eventuality, no matter how remote the possibility they may be used....

All wars are about money. If somebody can make money in Syria's civil war, they will. If it requires US gov involvement, then that is what is going to happen. Always follow the money.

I agree with Rugby...let's keep our military as a 'jobs' program by the government....work together to make sure there is no 'unnecessary and immoral interventions' into our military by those that only want to play war games. Let's move forword to make sure the military is for those that want to 'serve' by stopping ANY military operation, and let's work together to make sure those pacifists stay in and make a career of it and get their duly deserved pensions....

Always Faithful

Most of the wars listed by Rugby are/were no win situations. I think it would be a fools game to send troops. It would be one more war to waste our blood and treasure on to only walk away when the people are sick of it and no longer support it. We are broke, good enough reason not to start a expensive war someplace else.

Yes...we do need to keep the military at the ready for the 'jobs, job, jobs' program only. It doesn't hurt to have the pension there to draw our pacifists into the 'service' either. Actually, we should get rid of all the underground nuke sites in ND...I feel we could make each of those sites into community gardens to grow some peas for our Free Lunch Counter Café in Hillsboro....we could have the servicemen at the base driving out to cultivate and water the peas each day. I feel Rugby would say that is a good 'service' to our country.

We do not need to dismantle our military....we just need to re-direct where it's priorities are....'peace'.

Once again, Jack, we are astonished with your eloquence about "peas in our time."

williesg - you do know our side likes to have it both ways, as when we can have our side on both sides of the issue, as we were in Iraq, and then in us saying we should had our eyes on the ball in Afghanistan instead, and now our side is saying we should have been in neither.....I take it back.... we don't just want it 'both' ways....we want it as many numbers of ways as we want it to be.... in order for us to move forword...

I agree we should bring back the draft and ALL the lil children should spend at least two years on the Mexican border if nowhere else.. Learning our toy boys to be men again.

Jack I love your posts, I see the humor in them and just the fact willgarr hates it makes me want to see even more. Keep up the good work.

All the men are gone and we live amongst lily white lil boys with earrings and drug bums.. But then the Military has now gotten fussy about who they allow in and 1/2 our population has a drug charge and wouldn't be eligible.

ajc . com/news/news/local/police-mableton-fatal-assault-not-racially-motivat/nYpGG/

This happened in Mableton, GA. The news source is Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Some quotes...

"According to the arrest warrant, the 36-year-old victim was repeatedly punched and kicked by the youths outside a Chevron gas station. Chellew, badly beaten, eventually stumbled onto Mableton Parkway, where he was run over. He died at Grady Memorial Hospital."

"A brutal crime, no question, but not one fueled by racial animosity, according to investigators."

"The fight between Chellew and his four assailants apparently started over gang identification. According to the warrant, Chellew flashed blue colors and claimed allegiance to the “Crips” street gang. Three of the suspects were dressed in red, the colors affiliated with the “Crips” longtime rival, the “Bloods.” The exchange was captured on the station’s surveillance cameras."
