DustOff's right, willgrr.

You're trying to keep the pot simmering instead of trying to find a better way. Didn't you read/listen to the president's speech?

And Obama speaking today, he should just shut his mouth. I thought when we went to vegas, my son was 13 or 14, I was in my late twenties. We walk to the car. 5 or 6 older boys asked my son, whats in the bag, he said new shoes. I said son get in the car, lock the doors, your dad will be out soon. I stood there, and they threatened me, my husband walked up and they ran like chicken littles. Times have not changed. I am dang neer 60. Thank You for your great explaination of whats happening Obama.

Dustoff, my Premiums did go up a little. BCBS is fine. People are using Obama care to sell stuff. Although, later and on Medicare and Suppliments, it's harder to figure. All the laws are not in place.

cont...

"You know, I’m not naive about the prospects of some brand-new federal program. I’m not sure that that’s what we’re talking about here. But I do recognize that as president, I’ve got some convening power.

"And there are a lot of good programs that are being done across the country on this front. And for us to be able to gather together business leaders and local elected officials and clergy and celebrities and athletes and figure out how are we doing a better job helping young African-American men feel that they’re a full part of this society and that — and that they’ve got pathways and avenues to succeed — you know, I think that would be a pretty good outcome from what was obviously a tragic situation. And we’re going to spend some time working on that and thinking about that."

Fathers and mothers are the first point of contact for any young boy/man. I hope the president will have room for them as well in future conversations.

In Pres. Obama's remarks, I saw statements about understanding the plight of young African-American males, but I didn't see statements about encouraging fathers & mothers to be there for their sons.

"...this is a long-term project: We need to spend some time in thinking about how do we bolster and reinforce our African-American boys? And this is something that Michelle and I talk a lot about. There are a lot of kids out there who need help who are getting a lot of negative reinforcement. And is there more that we can do to give them the sense that their country cares about them and values them and is willing to invest in them?"

willgrr, questions like that just promote speculation, which isn't the same as judging a case by its facts.

Here's more speculative remarks from the president...

"So — so folks understand the challenges that exist for African- American boys, but they get frustrated, I think, if they feel that there’s no context for it or — and that context is being denied. And — and that all contributes, I think, to a sense that if a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario, that, from top to bottom, both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different."

Is the president 100% correct in this "thinking" of his? Isn't that also pre-judging an albeit imaginary case, not by its individual merits, but by the color of the perpetrator's skin?

Here's what Rev. Al Sharpton said after President Obama's words...

"I think the President’s remarks were significant and much needed, and as we prepare to coordinate vigils in one hundred cities tomorrow with the parents of Trayvon Martin, I think he has set a tone for both direct action and needed dialogue. We intend to raise the issue of the Stand Your Ground laws that he discussed today that must be revoked in Florida and across the country and we will have a three day conference in Miami starting Tuesday. We welcome the Department of Justice having a serious investigation into what happened in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, 2012. Tomorrow in an unprecedented one-hundred city movement that we organized in less than six days shows the outrage of our community. The mother of Trayvon Martin will join me in New York and the father will be in Florida.”

I was told since the insurance I have is not in the exchange program, although it is BC&BS cost now for 2 people 1373.80 monthly, it will not cost me approximately 2000.00 more per year, when my august rates come up. I have been on this policy since, 1975. I though we would all benefit. Only if you go into Government Programs. I for one will not until forced to. I will pay the extra, if I have to. It's ringing in my ears, you have insurance you can keep it. HA.

Yes, I believe it was the current president who announced the year-long delay of the employer mandate.

We could ask "why" but I doubt we'd ever get a real answer.

There's been problems with implementing ACA from the get-go. At least we're ALL finding out what's in the bill.

About the Zimmerman acquittal - I can agree with Worldview's post about the jury. The situation has been unfortunate from the beginning. This fact remains: one young man is dead. My prayers are with his family.

To be Clear - I do believe this case was an injustice and a young man died that should not have, and that is the ultimate lesson. A life needlessly snuffed out. The Martin family suffers dearly and I cannot fathom their pain. I have little or no sympathy for Zimmerman.

The conversation has grown stale and predictable. It is unfortunate.

Regarding this trial with respect to Zimmerman, I have some insight as my daughter is a criminal defense lawyer in FLA.

The problem appeared to me even without talking to her that the prosecution reached too far. The jury acted according to the justice system guidelines and under those guides were probably right. My opinion only.

However there is also a young African American Woman in FLA who just received a 20 year minimum sentence for firing warning shots over an estranged husband and was convicted of Attempted murder by the same prosecutor in the Zimmerman case. She feared for another beating and even had restraining order but, to no avail. The 20 year mandatory in FLA is a sham and the Judge could not do anything as her hands were tied by the law. That is injustice that I fear is far worse than this case, though I believe Zimmerman should have paid a price. He Killed someone and it Was Avoidable. EOS
