Darrel Johnson, Minot I started my career at Walmart corralling carts, which was perfect for a college student needing some spending money....

The new Walmart in Minot was NOT located near any neighborhood and the new Walmarts I have seen in other states are NOT located near residential areas.

There is a newer Walmart in Bottineau and it is no where near a neighborhood.

If Walmart has any common sense, they will abandon their efforts to locate a store where it is not wanted.

That would make them a good neighbor and really support Minot and its citizens.

Right now, they're pushing their weight around and it doesn't look good. Walmart should withdraw its proposed plans and go back to the drawing board.

It is what needs to be done.

I am just concerned that the new Wal-Mart might sell cd's and dvd's, made by artists and actors that have used the same word that Paula Deen used. Please Walmart...promise us that NO ONE will be "endorsed" by Walmart....that EVER used that word....

At least Wal-Mart is being a community, corporate citizen unlike the developers in SW Minot and pretty much barged their way into people's back yards without a say, open meeting. Can I say piss-poor community relations on the part of the developer behind houses in SW Minot compared to Wal-Mart. While I don't shop there that much they are the difference between right and wrong community relations and citizens.......

While I understand and respect Mr. Johnson's loyalty to a company he has invested so many years in, I don't respect Walmart as an employer. I did not see Mr. Johnson bragging about the benefits he recieved all those years working his way into a managerial positon because he didn't enjoy many. I say let's get a CostCo into Minot and give Walmart some competition! CostCo treats their employees much better than Walmart and I would shop at that store faithfully.

As all those people on the north side of Minot complain about the drive through congested traffic to the south end of town to shop and dine in crowded stores and restaurants, they can take some comfort in the fact that they're not doing it in their own backyard. Congratulations!

As North Minot develops, more traffic and people will come. Visit our South store--it is more quiet than many of our neighborhoods. But for the complaints of a few; we have to drive miles to get there instead of blocks.
