Officials just don't get it

Unmentioned fact: 2600 attendees at this meeting that cost 4 million dollars. But that would make the meeting seem a little less extravagant ($1500/person).

"...expenditures fell sharply when the Obama White House clamped down on travel and conferences as budgets tightened and a scandal erupted over how much the General Services Administration had spent on conferences. I.R.S. spending on such meetings fell to $4.8 million in the 2012 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, from $37.5 million in fiscal 2010" NYTimes

Committee Republicans — and a vocal contingent of supporters in the audience — cheered on the witnesses, but some committee Democrats let their patience slip.

“None of your organizations were kept from organizing or silenced,” said Representative Jim McDermott, Democrat of Washington. “We are talking about whether or not the American taxpayers will subsidize your work. We’re talking about a tax break." NYTimes

Dustoh---Can you refute that “None of your organizations were kept from organizing or silenced,”? McDermott

They're just taxed too much...it's just about the money.

Beam me up, Scotty!

That's what Jim Traficant used to say on the House floor all of the time until he was railroaded out of office.

Hey boys and girls NPR did a story this morning concerning the IRS "scandal". It's titled "Did IRS targeting harm Tea Party groups?". It'll be available after 11:00am. It's worth a listen. Of course the right-wingers won't believe a word of it, but what I heard sounded pretty balance. That's balanced, not "fair and balanced".

Just search NPR, look under "Morning Edition Saturday".

Nobody goes to jail. This is the mantra of the financial-crisis era, one that saw virtually every major bank and financial company on Wall Street embroiled in obscene criminal scandals that impoverished millions and collectively destroyed hundreds of billions, in fact, trillions of dollars of the world's wealth — and nobody went to jail. Nobody, that is, except Bernie Madoff, a flamboyant and pathological celebrity con artist, whose victims happened to be other rich and famous people.

willyG....I'm looking for some of that manure to grow my peas in next year......I feel the stuff you have is well rotted. Could you maybe spare several dozen truckloads? If it's not too much imposition?

Back on topic; preliminary IRS report today. Buck up wingers, no evidence of conspiracy yet, darn and liberal groups targeted too, double darn. Life is just not fair...but it is balanced.
