As a transportation planner I would love to see 2&52 be strictly limited access (only ramps) through Minot and for the long term bypass plans around the entire city (including SW and SE quadrants) to be complete as soon as possible. The reality is that it would take hundreds of millions of dollars and the best they can do now is hold the right-of-way for those plans until funding gradually comes into place for it to be finished piece by piece. Even a simple intersection with traffic lights can end up costing over $1-2million.

There were 4-5 alternatives proposed for this dangerous intersection a decade ago, most of them including overpasses and ramps, but the funding has never been there to finish it. The thing that complicates it is the proximity of the Burdick Expressway intersection, which is also dangerous.

It is a very ill designed intersection. If Minot is going to do it right fix this intersection...

How in the **** is this intersection a 'death trap'????? It's a light, with warnings, signs, and everything. Let's not blame the idiot drivers or anything.
