Keeping Gitmo open

June 15, 2013

Most of the 166 prisoners being held at the U.S. prison at the Guantanamo Bay military base are more than “terrorist suspects,” the term used often to describe them....

I feel, even though there is no place to put these terrorists, we must close Gitmo. Because I feel it's the right thing to do. And we promised. But then, maybe we should keep it open in order for my Democrat Party to have that promise of closing it in the next presidential election.

....and I'm afraid (the fear-thing) that if it's kept open, my government might put Rugby there.

At a cost of 1 million dollars per prisoner, gitmo isn't a cheap place to house prisoners.

It must be run by Republicans and the crony capitalists marketing the war on terror making sure the American taxpayer is gouged to the hilt.

If I were a purchasing agent supplying gitmo, I'd make sure it stays open 365/24/7 and maybe add about 30 more terrorists so the American taxpayer can continue to pay through the nose to support bogus war on terror.

follow the money.

no thumbs up for the Minot Daily today.

Let me see, jacko, the House of Representatives has voted on a number of occasions including just recently, to not allow Gitmo to be closed. Now, that would seem to be a Republican problem to everyone but right wing extremist kinda like you, jacko.

To those who oppose Gitmo, where would you propose housing these enemies of the US, aka terrorists? In one of the few Supermax prisons, although the states in which the prison are located do not want them. Or do agree with President Obama’s suggestion send them to Yemen? Have you forgotten so easily, what happen in Yemen on Oct 12, 2000, to the USS Cole? Oh, that is right there was no War on Terror until George W Bush was President, which would be correct because during the previous eight years it was only the Al-Qaeda terrorist network that was fighting the war with the US. "Part of what we don't want is them be put in prisons in the United States." Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (speaking about Gitmo)

Rugby Reader: I hate to burst your bubble but Al-Qaeda had successfully attacked the US here and abroad during the eight years, Clinton was President. Do you truly believe that after 9/11 President Bush should have followed President Clinton’s lead in reaction to terrorist attacks? President Clinton knew bin’ Laden was in Afghanistan training terrorists to kill Americans and attack the US, also in 1996 bin’ Laden had declared war or jihad against the US. In Aug of 1998, one attempt was made to kill bin’ Laden but it failed, so President Clinton passed on numerous opportunities to kill bin’ Laden. Perhaps you would think differently had the fourth plane been successful in attacking the Capitol building or the White House. Here is an interesting link to a transcript regarding Iraq & WMDs you may find interesting, it is a speech by President Clinton.

Charter a plane, load them into it, fly it by wire to Khartoum, land it by wire, and the plane load of gitmo prisoners are free to go and live a life in Sudan.

It will save 166 million dollars instantly.

Problem solved.

If my memory serves me, NoTea, there is a Republicon who called for the closing of "Gitmo" namely G.W. Bush. The current stance from the right wing is mostly motivated by Obama derangement syndrome.

centerish, your name should be farandawayleftfield, but that's something everybody already knows.

"Obstruction" and "hatred" seem to be the talking points that won best of show. Could we try something else please?

I feel, Rugby, if we moved those prisoners to this harsh climate in Rugby, that that would just create MORE terrorists....because we would be taking them from a paradise island and subjecting them to a torture worse that waterboarding - the ND climate. Thus creating more home-grown and terrorists in the Middle East. Please, let's not torture the terrorists further....

So, obstructionist and hatred are words that you don't care to hear anymore, loco? Well, what do you call the behavior of the obstructionist Republican legislators. You and your buddies always ignore the harm your party is doing to this country so you can rail about garbage items with no substance like the IRS, or Acorn, or Benghazi(hypocrite Dusty's favorite) or some other garbage that has no legs. Where is the Republican Health care package(just die), or how about the jobs bill(on Boehoer's desk for two years), or maybe ending sequester...not. But, lets cut meals on wheels, snap programs, food stamps, and any other programs for those who need it. Well, you will demand vaginal probes for women and take their rights away. Great priorities. Oh, and the hatred part.... well it is all over the place- Fox News, Rush, Shawn, and the rest of the racists and haters. Yep, your party has them all, so own it.

centerish, your most recent talking points list seem a little more lefty than usual.

Good on ya, if you're trying to be more lefty than usual.

If you're trying to appear centerish, you'll have to adjust your navigation a little.

In the words of Peter Pan: go for the "second star to the right, and straight on till morning."
