disgusted's right. Specifics would help for concerned's argument, while generalizations won't.

Yes I suspect maybe a few people in Minot work for less even if they have a degree.

A BA in History or Political Science probably is not going to get you a job in Minot.

Many employers DO NOT hire people with a degree because once this "high paying" job comes along they are gone..

If wages are raised then the tax brackets need to go up also so we don't just end up paying more taxes with all that extra money.

"Many people in Minot have degrees and are overlooked so they are forced to work lower paying jobs." Again, I ask who? where? Overlooked? Are they in a long line quietly waiting to be called upon? Many are people are paid wages higher than their ability, value, or training and that is so unfair to everyone. See, just lilke my statement, your statement hold no credibility.

Many people in Minot have degrees and are overlooked so they are forced to work lower paying jobs. So yes people work for less than $10 with degrees...So sad......

Why bother going to work for $7.00 an hour when sitting at home on welfare pays $7.50 an hour? Any employer who can't pay there employees a decent wage is either to greedy or to stupid to be running a business.

Some retail doesn't make $10 a hour and get rude customers....it's a joke....it's funny retail in other parts of the country almost 20 years ago made $7 a hour.......and teens....yes it's a good entry job but what about the people with skills, degrees and advanced degrees.....

concerned, be specific about who is not making $10.00 and who gets 'spit upon'. Raising the minimum wage takes beginning jobs away from teens. Teens need to enter the job market to learn basic job skills and behavior. No one can afford to take them on if they have to be paid $10.00/hour. No one just entering the job market as a teen is worth $10.00/hour. geez-o-pete

Lol...some people don't make $10 here in Minot and get spit upon and rudeness and work very hard......It's irritating reading all of these responses as you should really try to live off less than $10 a hour......and yes we make ourselves very valuable too valuable.....

I agree... why stop at $9... why not $15 or $20 or evn $50... the only entity helped by hiking the minimum wage is the government as they can collect more income tax...

I really think it boils down to the Government having to raise the Minimum wage "Because" of the Government welfare program. People make more on welfare then they could at a minimum wage job so they have to "entice" the people off when really all that needs to happen is the Government needs to quit giving these people everything for free.

Not going to happen tho is it???

Yes raise the minimum wage to $9 an hour and watch the price of your Burger go from $5.00 to $6.75.

People do not understand that the more people make, the more employers have to charge for their product to pay the higher wages..

Really stupid.. Once oil leaves and your income flops and your burger will still cost more because you have forced the employer to pay the higher wages..

Be Careful what you wish for because that raise in pay will come out of YOUR pocket.. Not the employers..

Who and where is anyone getting $7.25/hour in ND? Too bad the minimum is not a MANDATE for all entry level jobs. The businesses in ND would be making a killing if they didn't have to pay $12-15/hour to sling burgers. and btw, each and every time the minimum goes up, so doe the cost of each and every sold just to cover that increase. A much better method to increase your wage is to take personal responsibility in developing your skills to make you more valuable.
