"" My first priority will be to reinstate the assault weapons ban as soon as I take office. Within 90 days, we will go back after kitchen table dealers, and work to end the gun show and internet sales loopholes. In the first year, I intend to work with Congress on a national no carry law, 1 gun a month purchase limits, and bans on all semi-automatic guns.""

We can’t be having no extensive mental health background checks. Every single NRA/Teabagger would be excluded from owning a gun, what with their delusional paranoia of the Government coming to drone them.

"Every single NRA/Teabagger would be excluded from owning a gun, what with their delusional paranoia of the Government coming to drone them."

This sounds like 1) discriminatory language, 2) profiling, or 3) wishful thinking.

I think we should "allow" paranoid delusionals on the left to own a gun without the proposed legislative background checks. If they're not felons, we can talk, right?

DustOff, it seems you might have an abundant supply of toothpaste running amuck on occasion. Gets frothy now and then, but keeps the pearlys white.

Now the ones who are truly rabid don't even realize that they are. Keep an eye on those teeth...

Just crazy people like ones that think that the Government is out to get them, along with your weapons of mass destruction.

Why you right wing North Dakotans have decided to side with the defeated loser Confederate states is beyond me, but if you guys want to give it another try, seceding from the US, go ahead an make our day. Just remember, we have Drones.

Life in ND is different. almost every household has a gun, and the entire time i grew up there i can only think of two murders. Unfortunately that is not the case for other parts of the country. I agree that people kill people not guns. but to say that the status quo is okay is insane. Something needs to be done to keep dangerous people from getting weapons. Unfortunately doing that is probably going to infringe on alot of peoples rights. As far as the POTUS scolding at least it actually seemed like he was speaking from his heart. I don't know the answer to this problem but it isn't what we got now.

I'm all for gun ownership and personal defense, just not weapons of mass destruction and war. what’s so hard to understand? No machine guns, mortars, or rocket propelled grenades.

Did you know that it is legal to own a semi automatic AR15, and also the parts required to turn it into fully automatic, but just not combined? How many of you NRA nuts have the parts to wage war? I will vote to deny you that right all week long.

I thought it was the "Liberal's" that were so tolerate. I find they are not. It is their way or no way. I would rather be a part of NRA or right wing anyday, then being part of the Intolerate, which I find the Liberals.

1972 and after most of the deinstitutionalistion happened. Nixon was President - Senate Majority the Democratic Party - House Majority the Democratic Party. Link was Governor of North Dakota in 1973 Democrat. We got our lovely Group home that was put on our block in the 80's. After selling that house, I see they have built 4 more on that neighborhood. The Value of our house dumped when they did that. They were trying to escape the group homes all the time. That's all the proof I need.

Oh, boy, another war to jump into without looking. Looks like a right wingers dream. Wingers have never met a war they did not like. I wonder if the WMD's are in Syria. Oh, goody, and on the day they dedicated the Great WMD hunter's library. How appropriate.

What he should have said in his speech about the Senate failing to pass a bill requiring background checks was,"You can talk the talk, but you don't know how to walk the walk!" An article in the New Yorker quotes Senators Mitch McConnel and Lindsay Graham that they are not in the Senate to vote the way the American people want them to, they are not owing to the public who voted them in just because we (the public) pay their salaries, benefits, etc. It is this kind of attitude, along with other Senators who are willing to start additional military action that is what give Congress a bad name and why the American voters rating of them is so*****low. They are there for the money, benefits and nothing else, and they are there to make sure that nothing that the POTUS proposes ever sees the light of day. But you can believe if a Republican gets in, a lot of things will get passed and the worst thing that they will do is do away with the Affordable Health Care Act!!

"Ninety-two percent of Americans favor background checks for all potential gun buyers, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll."

"This poll was conducted by telephone from January 11-15, 2013 among 1,110 adults nationwide."

Yes, ProgLib, I read your source. Thanks for citing. However, it didn't validate willgrr's particular assertion. Here we go, peat and repeat...

"94% of North Dakotans wanted background checks. Less than 6% didn't."

Now where's that poll? Since I don't think it can be found, much less cited, I will say again that willgrr's percentage is baloney.
