"The Taliban-like religious zeal of this Republican-controlled Legislature is unfortunate at a time when American society is generally moving toward an expansion of human rights and a more inclusive society."

Human rights? For whom? Inclusive? For Whom? 50 million (and counting) lives taken since Roe v. Wade. Sure we're more inclusive, if you're lucky enough to be born. You'll be welcomed with open arms.

Taliiban-like religious zeal? There are so many things wrong with that statement that it's hard to know where to start. It's obvious Richard, that you've bought in to the into the notion that abortion is simply a religious concern, and that the bible-thumpers should live by their own rules and stop trying to impose their morality on others.

But it's not just a religious issue. It is a moral issue that extends beyond the confines of religion. It is an issue of humanity and common decency. I am what some of my Christian friends would call a "non-believer". But I will gladly stand with any Christian, Mormon,Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, secularist or atheist against abortion. There are many more like me out there, Richard.

Geez, NoTea. That was simply masterful. You're like some kind of pundit genius or something. Imagine the party of less government, and here we are enacting MORE laws. Well, thank you for clearing that up for me. I certainly will have to think about my stance on abortion now that you've illuminated the hypocrisy of it all.

Now go crawl back in your hole and stop destroying my country.

The biggest government welfare state in the country but also the dumbest right wingers in the country. We are all so glad that anger is here to judge the situation. You also support programs for poor children as well, don't you...Oh, that is right, once they are born, they are of no concern to you. Hypocrite. But, lets throw in Taliban. Good touch for a winger. You can stand anywhere you want, anger but there will also be many of those same religions that stand for woman's choice. Get you male attitude back into your own business.

leftfield, I feel the same about illegal immigrants....let's not "abort" them from our country, but welcome them with open arms. And let's extend the fullest amounts of welfare to the "immigrant" and possibly we of the Democrat Party should reap the majority of their votes in the elections. A real win-win...

"But, lets throw in Taliban. Good touch for a winger." Who threw in the Taliban? Did you read the letter?

"We are all so glad that anger is here to judge the situation." Yeah, that's right. But Duracell never judges anything does she? Hypocrite.

"You also support programs for poor children as well, don't you...Oh, that is right, once they are born, they are of no concern to you." I wouldn't say that. I don't support slaughtering them outside of the womb either.

"You can stand anywhere you want, anger but there will also be many of those same religions that stand for woman's choice." A woman's choice to what? Abort? Kill? Slaughter? Oh, there I go being judgmental again. You are right about that. There are a lot of people that don't live the faith they claim. There are also so religions or denominations that condone abortion. That doesn't make it moral.

angeR, I am what some of my atheist friends call a Christian. I consider the issue of abortion a moral one as well.

A baby, or fetus, if you don't like the traditional word, is defenseless before its mother, and it's immoral to intentionally kill it.

As far as the "Taliban" remark, I don't think liberal men and women realize what they're saying. It's willfully ignorant to equate a moral stance about abortion with the practice of fundamental Islam.

It must make some feel all warm & fuzzy to say the word "Taliban" when discussing views with which they disagree. It seems the only logical explanation.

I'm still waiting for the state to right the wrongs perpetrated by the petition fraud last year. If I remember right there were over 30,000 legitimate signatures on the two petitions, that makes over 30,000 North Dakota citizens who lost their right to bring what was important to them up for statewide vote. My only guess is whatever was in those petitions our State government did not like. I wonder what it is like to those people who were fraudulently denied their rights. You would think because of fraud the measures would be put on the ballot just to be fair to those 30,000 plus citizens who were legal signers of the petitions. Or is it better to just ignore over 30,000 citizens of this state, I don't think anyone likes to be ignored.

Hey, that's great, Duracell. I'm glad you've seen the light, but what has spelling got to do with it?

I honestly don't think our state, communities all in North Dakota honestly know what a Republican or Democrat is and Republicans support Democrat progams and so forth here in North Dakota. It's too funny some people representing our state calling themselves Republicans when they are told to live a lifestyle that they honestly aren't living the truth....too funny what you really know and the truths about people in these communities...but you can't expose their dirty laundry.......
