Walmart treat their employees badly with low pay ,and encouraging them to apply for government benefits...talk about working the system....BUT.. it would be nice to have another store on north hill to alleviate all the traffic on the south side...."SOCIALISM FOR THE RICH...CAPITALISM FOR THE REST"

We don't need another Walmart...we could use a Sam's Club, though. Why build another one of the same store?

Markhighwater your not telling the truth.. What you are spouting out is Democratic Talking points brought to you by the Labor Unions!!

There employees are paid wages and get medical benefits along with paid holidays and vacations..

You Union Buddies like to give WalMart a bad name because you cannot get control of them. WalMart hires a LOT of people who would be hard pressed to get a job somewhere else.

And I bet you never shop there either do you Mark?

Isn't this the same Home Depot that couldn't make it in Bismarck a few years ago? Dear Home Depot store manager, there is a way worse pool of applicants in Minot as there was in Bismarck. Hopefully you make it as I try to avoid Menard's whenever I can.

Nice! If they build a new Walmart what will happen to the old building, sit empty until Hobby Lobby moves in. How about all the cracker box hotels on the south side of minot, will they move them to the North side? I wonder if there has ever been any city as short sighted as minot. They keep pulling their cake out of the oven before it's done and it falls.

Early bird, this is another walmart not a new one. This would alleviate some of the pressure on the south store but of course everyone in this town is "not in my back yard" I am getting to hate this town.

My question is how are they planning on staffing another store? They can't currently staff the one they have with an adequate number of employees to keep shelves stocked or ring up customers in less than 30 minutes.

Home Depot got ran out of Bismarck because it sucked. Now they want to come up to Minot and try their luck in a town with no help? Good luck.

Bismarck saw a large number of big box stores develop all at once. Home Depot, Lowes, Superwalmart, Sam's Club, Best Buy, and a few others all developed within a few years of each other.

With Lowe's and Home Depot coming at the same time, it was probably difficult to predict how well they would both do. Apparently Bismarck could only handle to large home improvement stores at once (Lowe's and Menards). Minot currently only has one, and most probably agree that it could support another.

While i think a Supertarget on North Hill would be amazing, a SuperWalmart will still be a great asset to have for the thousands of new houses coming online now and in the near future. This can also act as a catalyst for other development. Because this area is undeveloped, now is the time to plan the correct balance of residential, commercial, and transportation infrastructure and it sounds like that is what the City is trying to ensure.

What they need to do is lower the cost of rent and boot out all the oil workers who are ruining Minot.
