So Vericose then I fail to understand why you are so hateful to the influx of new people. Just look at the population explosion and knee-yawns theory doesn't hold water because you have 1000"s of new residences and the unemployment is still 3%

"Since the 70s graduating high school seniors have been fleeing this state" but not necessarily and not only for better jobs.

I can now agree with the statement. Apologies for the edit.

Great article. Our state republican gov't. also hoards the WSI fund. ND had an existance economy in 2008, we lost little because we had so little. Last election 4 republicans took credit for oil--all lies. They tax and "keep" the money when spending would be the right thing to do. They favor womens health regulations but frown on oil regulations.

Was North Dakota's population dying?? Gee when small town sports teams have 5 names of towns on their uniforms.....does it take a genius to figure out our state was dwindling. Why do you see so many license plates from our of state? Duh it's because we can't even staff our own state! Since the 70s graduating high school seniors have been fleeing this state for better jobs.

According to the July 2012 BLS data, seven of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates have Republican governors, led by North Dakota, with 3.0%

VERIcose Would you care to state the population of each one of these states? And remember it is the Democrats that want equality for all so the people in North Dakota have to have as much money as the people in California so therefore we Must Take from the Rich and give to the poor.

Verotossed their is this web sight called Google. Most of us know how to find information if we desire..then others are not smart enough to do their own research so we have to write it out word by word and explain it so they get the picture.. Sorta like old whats his name ???? Worried American.

You know we Republicans already support you by paying our taxes so you can get welfare..now you want us to go look things up because the tips of your fingers are too lazy to take you places??? Nice try veracious

California, like the U.S. govt, is broke, but refuses to face the fact. The left-wing controlled legislature keeps piling on more bonded indebtedness, more personal and business taxes, and adding more benefits & services for illegals (. Who will be left to pay for all this spending? The rich? They're all fleeing to other states. The poor? Are you joking?--they don't pay any taxes to speak of. The middle class? Fast becoming an endangered species, and trying to follow the rich to wherever they're heading. Got the picture? California, once a truly golden place to live, has become just another failed, third-world state. Congratulations, liberal politicians!

Great place that Californiy ain't it variates???

centerfield why do you care about the farm bill? Is there a food stamp shortage on the horizon?

First Vallejo, then Stockton, then Mammoth Lakes, and then San Bernardino and soon possibly Compton. Not that the state’s legislators have anything constructive to offer. California’s Democratic leaders are not only unwilling to rein in the costs of benefits for their patrons, the public-sector unions, but they have been erecting roadblocks to those localities that want to fix the problem on their own. Yet all the political blockades in the world cannot fix the basic problem of insolvency.

Seems California is broke veritas. You really should look at all the news and maybe even something thats up to date..

Oh, and the jobs bill was passed in the Senate for infrastructure and a million plus jobs. It was held in the house by Republicans without even allowing a floor debate. Oh, and where did that farm bill disappear to? Without even a floor debate.

Let me see, the dems have done a fine job in Washington?? History shows that the current economic problems were a "direct" result of Republican led decisions that were extremely bad for the economy and for the US in the long term. So, with the change of administrations, one would expect a change. Since our congress is also a part of this activity, nothing happened. Why, one would ask? Well, the Republican Senate has had over four hundred filibusters/clotures and other stalling tactics. This total is more than the total of all filibusters in the History of the US. The US House is considered to be the worst in the history of the US. They have passed 39 bills to overturn the HEalth care bill but have failed to bring one jobs bill to the floor for debate. The Bakken was coming to ND no matter who was in office. The Republicans did nothing to bring it here and they would rather pass anti abortion bills than take care of their own people from impacts from the Bakken.

I think we should also realize that because of Republican leadership in North Dakota we have an oil-boom.

Any Democrat in charge would have bowed down to Obama and shut down the drilling.

Might even be easy for you to get a spot on the ballot in California..

You just cannot have it both ways.. Oil and a job or no oil and no job..

If you choose the latter I suggest you move to California.. There you can recognize your ambition of no job and no oil..
