"Cut federal money to states that don't need it"? Interesting concept. So the idea is to gather all the wealth at the federal level then give it back at federal discretion. How about we just cut taxes and allow failing concepts to fail. And "billgarrgetsit", ND produces a large portion of the food in this country, a large portion of the oil in this country, hosts a large portion of the nuclear capabilities of this country and does so in one of the harshest climates in the lower 48 and one of the lowest populations of the 50 states. So answer me this... if ND left the union and no longer took federal aid.. who would feel the affects more? ND OR USA?

Howzabout that "global warming" thing for ND today? Right about now would have been nice, huh?

Spring break + blizzard = kids + shovels + sleds + hot cocoa inside

Algebra at its finest

I'm feel I have to fear that our local café, the Free Lunch Counter Café, in Hillsboro, will not get our allotment of peas if the sequesteration continues....de-icing them is a problem in itself....maybe this global warming will help with that problem...

"...we need actual cuts not just reduced increases."

This is correct. No more playing with the numbers.

I seriously don't think he has the brains to know what he is doing.

No one can be that ignorant ALL THE TIME! But Obama proved me wrong.

Even mentally challenged folks come up with smart comments at times.

Our Dear Leader is so so unTrumaanistic. He is at the opposite end of the spectrum. President Truman stood up and said...The Buck Stops Here!!! Our Dear Leader blames everyone else on everything. ACCOUNTABILITY IS NOT in his DNA...

The Federal Government would have increased spending by 7.34% before the sequester. The Federal Government will increase spending by 4.94% after the sequester. The Federal Government spent $3,540 billion taxpayer dollars in 2012 (source - Heritage Foundation) The Federal Government plans to spend $3,800 billion taxpayer dollars in 2013 (source - usgovermentspending) The sequester legislation implemented by obama removes $85 billion from the spending increases and just $44 billion of the proposed increase for 2013. There will be no doom and gloom and we need actual cuts not just reduced increases.

But Obama still wants higher taxes and the only way the repubs will agree is if all tax increases go directly to paying down the debt and not to expand Government programs.

Because Obama doesn't want anything fixed. That's why he isn't leading on this issue nor on any important issue. His trip to play around of golf with Tiger, one of the 1% he despises, cost the equivalent of 300 plus furlough Fed. jobs..."google" reveals so much. So I say bring on the Sequestration Obama and Lew designed at least that is what Senator Leftist Durbin says on CNN..thought of and designed by our dear leader.... and NOW he calls it dumb???

BINGO>> And there you go Bill. Why oh why can't Obama figure out who has money and who needs money and who doesn't.

He is the leader (supposedly) and he should be the person in charge. He should step up and cut federal money to states who don';t need it.

Your asking the people eating the cookies to put a lid on the jar. Why doesn't Obama put a lid on the jar and stop the drain?

He is just too ignorant to do the math. And he doesn't have the guts to make the hard decisions..that's his problem.

"That is exactly where America is today and borrowing money is not the answer. Quit spending, cut up the credit cards, make HARD decisions and stick with them."

Common sense, billdoesnt.

Education has become the sacred cow.

All for the poor little kids. Our education budgets are so blown out of proportion its sickening.

Education is suppose to be the method by which our children receive instructions from the books.

Now education means free lunch, free breakfast, a bus ride from home to school, football, basketball, band trips, softball, soccer, pep rallies, golf lessons at some schools, and the list goes on.

If this country cut back to a BASIC education we could cut the education budget in half EASY!

Families need to take back the job of raising their kids and relieve that taxpayers of paying for all the things "linked" to what they claim is education.

Loco I don't feel sorry for any of them.

The word Budget has fallen from their vocabulary. I learned at a very young age you cannot spend more then you take in.

The states, the feds and everyone else need to write and plan a budget and then follow it.

Everyone in good times decided to put programs in place for those who didn't have as much. Now hard times have hit and no one wants to cut out anything.

Sorta like a great time at work when Overtime is abundant and folks start living beyond their paycheck and into their overtime money. Overtime goes away and soon these folks are in a world of hurt.

That is exactly where America is today and borrowing money is not the answer. Quit spending, cut up the credit cards, make HARD decisions and stick with them.

Obama has no guts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If President Obama had made those cuts 5 years ago, he might have a leg to stand on, but not now.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." - Senator Barack Obama (D-IL)

Holy crow, 200 million a month from gross oil revenues. Most of this is off school sections so it should be used to pay for the schools, all of them.

It's sad that $20 million dollars is equated with the term "minimal". I'm certain all those who lost their homes in the 2011 flood would appreciate a piece of the "minimal".
