EarlyBird, Every Civil Service person (a little over 500 people) is subject to be furloughed 16 hours a pay period (easist way to say is two days assuming they work an 8 hour day). They will not be able to apply for unemployment benefits as they will not have been laid off for more than 1 week straight. This may have a significant impact to those employees who are in the GS-4, 5, or 6 range who's annual salary before deductions ranges from $27,900 to $36,000 and have a family leaving in this over inflated area. Because they are still employed by the Govt, even though furloughed, outside employment on the days they are furloughed, except in rare cases, is illegal. That's just the govt employees. Contract (employ local personnel) may have to cut or curtailed. Project $$ that would employ local contractors may not flow. Unfortunately presidential appointees are exempt by law.

If this helps reduce the governments debt I'm all for it. It's going to be interesting to see if and who will be affected by this way out here on the prairie.
