angeR, saw your recommeneded video. It showed 3 armed assailants running into a homeowner's garage. They were repelled by the homeowner's firing his weapon. AT HOME. IN THE GARAGE. Amazing times we live in.

WV ... " but until you or any one else can show me how many (even 1) lives were saved because of an assault weapon or 30 round clip than I believe my argument is won, and yours is without merit."

Setting the bar pretty low aren't you? Well, this should meet your minimalist demands...

If I prevented a home invasion with a gun (any gun)I most likely would not report it and go through questioning and scrutiny about my actions and my firearms. That may well explain the lack of statistics on crimes prevented by gun ownership. Another example would be that crime is most unlikely in front of a police station or in front of a police officer--because they have guns. When you are followed or stalked you are told to go to a police station. I know many hunters who value their "assault" weapon as their hunting weapon of choice because of the versatility of it. For example many have an adjustable stock; so it will fit well against a tee shirt or a heavily padded winter parka. I wish I had bought one years ago when they were inexpensive. Now they are out of my price range.

So no one in ND has bow hunted using a stand? And no one has killed a deer with the help of a salt block or a little feed? OK Than I cannot converse with your indicated knowledge of ND, though it is different than my own - BUT Are Your really as sure about that as I am that you cannot show me ONE life saved or any other attempted homicide, or home invasion prevented because the home owner had a 30 round clip assault rifle to prevent it? I suggest for self defense stick with pepper spray or the old reliable double barrell, but until you or any one else can show me how many (even 1) lives were saved because of an assault weapon or 30 round clip than I believe my argument is won, and yours is without merit. "...especially when they are fed grain near your deer stand..."

We don't hunt with a deer stand or feed grain.

There's more than one way to bag a buck.

"The assault rifle was designed to operate with sand or dirt on it and in adverse weather condition typical hunting conditions."

----- An Assault weapon is an "Assault Weapon" -- Typical hunting weapon is a very stupid statement. Man in all his glory cannot kill a deer without an assault weapon. What the heck are you talking about. (especially when they are fed grain near your deer stand) Protecting your home is not about an assault weapon. Show me one person who survived a home invasion becauase of a 30 round clip assault weapon. Moronic...................

Back to militia, our States National Guardsmen are serving around the world in support of the federal government so they are not really a State Militia. Although I'm pretty sure the National Guards as individuals would be right here with us defending what ever it is we decide to defend.

"Real men look for real solutions to real problems...And our ability to compromise makes us men."

I agree with this statement. I also think that there are times to go out on a limb with one's convictions. At those times, whenever they might occur, compromise is only a 10-letter word, not fit for the occasions.

The debate about gun issues and 2nd Amendment rights is far from over.

In Washington state Senate Bill 5737 is introduced. It’s the long-awaited assault-weapons ban, introduced last week by three Seattle Democrats. But then, with respect to the thousands of weapons like that already owned by Washington residents, the bill says this: “In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall … safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”

Legend, you're right. Not all democrats are anti-gun. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's advice for self-defense: Buy a shotgun, ....he and his wife have two shotguns. He has instructed his wife to take the double barrel shot gun out onto the balconey and shoot.

It is a mistake to label all democrats as anti-gun. We need all of the friends we can get and many are democrat. I think the NRA made a critical mistake the past 4.5 years by badmouthing the president in nearly every issue of their magazine. Over 50% of the people voted for him Any wonder why he might want to get even now? I am more afraid of the extremely wealthy than democrats. The militia of our revolution was simply an armed citizenry; without whom we might not have won the war. The question is are we subject to a foreign attack today that could be stopped by armed citizens and the answer is a positive yes.

In 2011, the FBI Criminal Statistics show that there was 12,664 murders by firearms. Of that, only 524 was by rifle. There were 1,689 murders by knife/cutting instruments. On the flip side, in the United Kingdom there were 30,999 knife incidents. Their statics count murder, assault, and threats all rolled into one.
