Private corporations will soon be selling these small drones to the public, so you too can own your own drone. Lorexxx can put that in his arsenal to patrol his property so he can feel safer.

Agree with your posts, SOIA. I especially agree with your statement "...the question should revolve around w(h)ether or not the process of determining whether someone is or is not an enemy combatant is flawed."
That seemingly was a problem for the left, when the administration before Pres. Obama's was placing those accused of terrorist activity into Gitmo. What about representation? Due process? Etc.
But I agree once an enemy combatent of the US has been reliably determined to be so, then their "rights" have been forfeited.
That would have to remain true under any administration, Dem or Rep.

If anything, the question should revolve around wether or not the process of determining whether someone is or is not an enemy combatant is flawed. But once they have been deemed an enemy combatant, there should be no assumptions that they should recieve special treatment, regardless of where they call home.

This argument has been misdirected, inteionally or otherwise. True or False: The US can legally target enemy combatants? Yes, we can. In accordance with bot the Geneva Conventions and the Law of armed conflict. The citizenship of the combantant is irrelevant. There were US citizens who fought on the side of both Japan and Germany during WWII. To imply that US citizens fighting on behalf of a foreign power enjoy certain rights not enjoyed by non-citizens would be incorrect. And if it were true, it would represent a very dangerous precedent, Because it would allow enemy combatants carrying US citizenship to operate with impunity overseas.

Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show" addresses a leaked government document that details the legal argument supporting the president's use of drones to kill eventual Al Qaeda suspects. "We don't mind you knowing about*****that we do, once we don't do it anymore. We're happy to share irrelevant information with the public. We told you we were going to be transparent, we just didn't tell you it was going to be about the last guy's secrets," Stewart said in a tone that mocked the Obama White House.

USA Soldiers have never lost a war, it just seems periodically some country needs to see if our young people are still willing to defend and die for our lands and way of life. Our young people in the Military is the only thing that brings respect to our country. It's just a show but try to watch from "Lions for Lambs". It has the only explanation of why we are fighting terrorism that makes any sense.
Are you insane? Sending our kids out to die just to see if Democracy is worth it? One small tactical nuck would only kill 10,000 or so top regime officials. Or just put on a show and kill 3000 of our kids to kill 100,000 of theirs. There is nothing prideful about war, kill them or they kill you. We did lose the last 4 wars because nothing better happened after them. I was one year too young to be drafted 17A. I was perfecting my Canadian language skills (“A“) because we kids in the 70’s knew that the Vietnam war was a joke.

War is HELL, how many of your kids do you want to lose? If a nuke ends it sooner, than I want it and am willing to be the person to push the button. there is now such thing as a clean war.

Pentagon likes the drones --spent from 248 million back in 2000 to 4 BILLION in 2012--from 200 drones to 7300. Moat are Army -Ravens--according to article from MDN. Don't think we plan on not using them. Intell most important for use--probably should have been used against the WMD is Iraq.

"ProgressiveLiberal": Concerning Dresden, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima, I feel the same way whenever civilian populations are specifically targeted by the military: disgusted and saddened. Much like reading your posts. You may be liberal with the way you sling that empty verbal hatred (all shock value and awe, yeah?), but you haven't a progressive bone in your body. I'd hate to think anybody would be fooled by the pseudonym; bit of a misnomer, that.

We lost the Vietnam War. How do you Vietnam Vets and Republicans feel about that? 50 thousand dead drafted young kids. That war was planned and fought to lose. So was Afghanistan. Iraq about the same. We should have nuked China in Korea.

muleskinner, those Americans weren't some tourists on vacation. They were enemy terrorists. What's your point?

War is hell. Kill them or they kill you. As someone posted on the internet, How do you feel about us bombing Dresden, Hiroshima, or Nagasaki?

The reason for this 'bipartisan concern' is a simple one: for Democrats who genuinely opposed Guantanamo, renditions, and enhanced interrogation, Al-Awlaki's extrajudicial killing and the expanded use of drone strikes by this administration in general come as a bit of a betrayal of principles; and for Republicans, the most pervasive sentiment seems to be that if Obama does anything, it's wrong. (Which in my opinion cheapens legitimate instances of righteous indignation.)
What's worse (or so it might seem, were this not an issue of human rights and rule of law) is that it gives partisans particularly devoid of integrity an undue sense of vindication regarding crimes perpetrated during the 'War on Terror'. Different reasons, different concerns, shared focus.

Democrat warmongering, give me a break. How did that Bush/ Cheney nation building work out for you? Obama did it the right way in Libya, take out Kaddafee’s weapons of mass destruction and let the people settle it amongst themselves. Israel will soon do the same with our help in Syria.
The reason the terrorists at Guantanamo can’t receive due process is because since they where tortured, every judge in America would throw out their case. The only good terrorist is a dead one, American bred or not.
So how come Fox/MDN won’t let us comment on the ND State Christian Taliban enactment of Sharia Law with their violation for a woman’s US constitutional right to an abortion? What a pile of %&*# rag newspaper.

There does seem be a bit of a disconnect between the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo (worries about their "rights" or maltreatment by waterboarding) and unmonitored (?) drone killings. Where's the due process that was supposed to have happened for those accused of terrorist activity? BTW, I'm not that much in favor of "due process" for foreigners that attack our country. But American citizens should be afforded due process, right? Or is it because a Democrat is in the WH that we can dispense with those formalities and warmonger as we please?
To quote ProgLib: "Kill them, kill them all."

muleskinner your attitude has changed since Bush left office! What happened to "Wanted Dead or Alive!"? and "War on Terror!" "They will all be hearing from all us soon!" If you are out there planning attacks against America you are no longer an American you are a traitor and a target!
