Sounds more like panic legislation rushed through without proper discussion of how it will be regulated or enforced?

Worried, you have a point. I think many state legislatures are reacting to the Newtown CT tragedy with the "action" they can: a bill or two.
Same thing's happening at the national level: reactionary. ND's own Sen. Heitkamp, among others, has been level-headed in saying mental health issues must be addressed, and not just guns.

I don't believe that the writer of this letter has a concealed weapons permit. Such permit holders are screened and have some training. They carry a weapon to protect themselves.
What do all of the victims of the mass shootings have in common? They were not carrying a gun, and so they could not defend themselves.

loco for once I agree with you. All aspects should be looked at on this issue. Background checks, limited gun magazine capacity, mental health issues, and a national gun registery.

Worried: "Background checks, limited gun magazine capacity, mental health issues, and a national gun registery."
Well, I didn't say all that.

I'd fight off those cougars that are trying to have their way with me...fight them bare handed before I brought a gun into the park.

More Americans have died just since 1960 from gun incidents — suicides, accidents, and homicides — than died in every war in U.S. history. The deadliest war the U.S. has ever had is the war we waged against ourselves. 1,400,000 dead Americans due to guns.
