Bishop Ryan’s Tyler Christen (33) is met by Rugby’s Zach Leer (17) during the second quarter of a Class AA football game Friday at Herb Parker Stadium.
It didn’t take too long for Rugby quarterback Thomas Seaver to show everyone at Herb Parker Stadium that he has a arm, and he is not afraid to use it. Seaver finished the night completing 15 of 25 passes for 269 yards to lead the Panthers to a 35-27 win over the Bishop Ryan Lions in Class AA Football on Friday night. Seaver’s offense took the ball on their own 30-yard line and drove the length of the field, aided by a pass interference call on what would have been an interception by the Lion’s defense. The 16-play drive ended when Seaver faked the draw to his lone running back and then fired a 5-yard touchdown pass to Derek Jaegar to put the Panthers in the lead 7-0 after the successful extra point. The Panthers then built their lead to 14-0 about five minutes later on a quick slant pass from Seaver to Aaron Teigen for a 54-yard touchdown strike.
