Airmen from Minot Air Force Base recently provided support in getting the Dakota Territory Air Museum in Minot off the ground and ready for its opening.

“It is wonderful the support that we have gotten from the base,” said Glenn Blackaby, museum curator. “We asked for help and we got more than enough volunteers to get the job done.”

The airmen who volunteered April 24 and 25 helped clean the planes and the hangar that could not be kept clean during the renovations that were accomplished during the museum’s off-season this year.

“We are happy to help out,” said 2nd Lt. Grant Smith, of the base’s 23rd Bomb Squadron. “I have always had an interest in history and planes, so this is a real treat for me.”

The museum opens May 17.
