Taube Museum of Art presents 'Members Only'
Terry J. Aman/MDN - - “Tree” by Taube Museum of Art member artist Andrea Donovan is one of some 80 pieces on display as part of the “Members Only” exhibit showing in both the main and lower galleries through Feb. 20.
"Members Only” is a new exhibit displayed on both the main level and the lower level at the Taube Museum of Art. Executive director Nancy Brown said the exhibit, which opened Tuesday, was initially envisioned to fill a scheduling gap between a couple of other exhibits. “Arts Dakota,” the touring show of works by North Dakota artists, closed last week, and the next exhibit, “Absolute Dots” by Ewa Tarsia, is set to open Feb. 23. So rather than three weeks of blank walls, Brown put a call out to artists who are members of the Taube and rounded up some 80 pieces. But if the show is envisioned more as a placeholder, it’s one that can also hold your attention. The 16 member artists of the Taube who responded to the call have turned in a full gamut of pieces in a range of media including ceramics, cedar fencepost art, zipper art, oils, watercolors, mixed media and crayon. Yes, crayon.
