Oil development being held up at Fort Berthold
EARL POMEROY, D-N.D.
NEW TOWN – Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., says he plans to meet with U.S. Department of Interior officials to clear up the matter of oil development being held up on the Fort Berthold Reservation because of the beaucratic delays.
Pomeroy, who met with Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Marcus Wells Jr. on Friday, said Wells outlined to him the difficulties the tribe is having in getting wells drilled on the reservation, even though it’s in the center of the Bakken play.

Sci Fi's 'Sanctuary' fun to watch, hard to swallowFri, October 10, 2008 @ 6:05PM While the networks premiere show after show hoping new viewers stick, the Sci Fi channel focused its fall season energy on “Sanctuary,” the unlikely creature feature starring Amanda Tapping of “Stargate: Atlantis” as Dr. Helen Magnus and Robin Dunne as psychologist and police consultant Dr. Will Zimmerman. Helen looks good for her age. She’s 157 years old, and has been tracking exobiology and cryptozootica (that is, mythologized beasties like mermaids and minotaurs) as part of her father’s initiative since the 19th century. In the series premiere, a former – well, let’s call him a fan – tracked her to her Sanctuary, where she maintains a bizarre collection of beings, as much for their protection as for everyone else’s.

Minot FB teams go 1-1Sat, October 11, 2008 @ 0:18AM Minot high school football teams went 1-1 in their key games Friday. Bishop Ryan's playoff hopes are pretty much over after falling to Beulah 32-6. The Lions were down 26-0 at the half. I tried to listen to part of the game while driving back from Bismarck, but by the time I could pick it up it was already in the second half and the game was too far out of reach for the Lions. Minot High got a big win, beating Bismarck Century 16-15 on a last-second TD pass from Derek Somerville to Kalvin Larson. The pass was on a 4th down play from the 5 yard line and gave the Magi the lead with 10 seconds remaining. Larson is one of the state's best high school players. He is probably among the best linebacker and fullbacks in the state. He will probably get some looks from NDSU and UND and is one of the nicest kids I've met since covering prep sports. Minot's defense, except a few miscues looked outstanding. They allowed just 74 yards on 31 carries.
