Free Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., First Lutheran Church.

Public hockey and ice skating: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Maysa Arena.

Downtown Minot's Annual Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony: 3 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Downtown Business and Professional Association. The tree lighting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. The tree has more than 20,000 twinkling lights coordinated to a series of 10 holiday songs. Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at Abracadabra Balloons. Dinner with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church. A candlelight procession with caroling down Main Street will be from 5:45 to 6 p.m. There will also be holiday treats and beverages and hayrides. Downtown merchants are asking for donations of hats, scarves, mittens, socks and nonperishable food items. People should bring these items to the lighting ceremony and the items will be collected there and given to the Horn of Plenty project to be distributed to low-income people. Child Evangelism Fellowship will hold a Birthday Party for Jesus: 3:30 to 5 p.m., Carnegie Center, downtown Minot, 105-2nd Ave. SE. Children will sing, play games and learn about the ultimate reason for Christmas ­ Jesus Christ. The party is free and will be led by trained personnel who serve under the supervision of Child Evangelism Fellowship, a Bible-centered ministry serving in northwest North Dakota and 158 countries around the world. Mouse River Players Community Theatre will present a musical revue, "A Broadway Sampler": Today and Saturday, in The Arlene Saugstad Theater downtown, 115-1st St. SE. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the performance at 7:30 p.m. There will be food, door prizes and Broadway show tunes performed by local youth and adults. Tickets are $15 per person. This is an extra and is not part of the season ticket package. Please call 838-3939 for general seating reservations as seating is limited.

Dickens Village Festival: Today through Sunday and Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 12-13 in Garrison. An adaption of Charles Dicken's "God Bless Us, Everyone," will be performed Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Kota Theater. Tickets for the play are $14. Entertainment, Inc! of Williston will present the musical comedy "Don't Hug Me": Today through Sunday and Dec. 4-7, Old Armory Theatre, Williston.
