Minot State University's Brown Bag Book Talk: noon to 12:45 p.m., Gordon B. Olson Library's lower level at MSU. Mark Timbrook from MSU's Office of Instructional Technology will discuss the book "Meriweather Lewis" by Thomas Danisi. People are encouraged to bring their lunch and do not need to read the book ahead of time. Another Brown Bag Book Talk is scheduled Dec. 3.

Western Plains Opera and Children's Chorus will hold its annual meeting: 5:30 p.m., Off the Vine, 14 S. Main St. The meeting is open to the public.
Opening reception for "Absolute Dots" and "Cartoodles" exhibits: 6:30 p.m., MSU's Hartnett Hall Gallery.The "Absolute Dots" exhibit includes paintings and prints by Ewa Tarsia, Winnipeg, Man., and will be in Hartnett Hall Gallery through Dec. 3. "Cartoodles" by Bill Nybo will be displayed Nov. 18 through Dec. 24 in the Gordon B. Olson Library Gallery at MSU.
Sally Burton-Hoyle, an assistant professor at Eastern Michigan University, will speak at the Minot Area Parent Support for Autism Spectrum Disorders meeting: 7 p.m., Minot High School-Magic City Campus. People should use the entrance for the Preschool, Door No. 8, on the southeast side of the campus near the greenhouse. Child care will be provided by members of the MSU Student Social Work Organization.
The Minot Curling Club will have an open house and instructional sessions: Tuesday through Thursday, 7 p.m., at the club, State Fairgrounds, Minot. All equipment will be provided to interested people who would like to try curling. The league season will be from Nov. 30 to the end of March. Leagues are evenings Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The club also hosts some weekend events. All new and old curlers may attend the open house and sign up for leagues and to arrange their teams. There will be a club social and dinner Saturday at 6 p.m. at the curling club. Call 838-3452 for more information.
The Northern Plains Heritage Foundation will have a public input meeting on the management plan for the Northern Plains Heritage Area: 7 p.m., Memorial Building, Main Avenue, Washburn. The meeting will provide information on what the heritage area is, what it is not, grant opportunities available and a recent amendment to the legislation clarifying that participation in the heritage area is voluntary.
